Won three times since September including a C&D success and his 2¼L second over 1m2f at Chelmsford latest was another sound effort. Goes up another 1lb but looks sure to go well once more.

Gained a third career course success latest with 10/1 C&D win just last Friday. Not sure she will prove well in under a 5lb penalty but obviously in good order and this is her favourite venue.

Back on the Flat latest when a never involved fifth at Kempton after an inauspicious debut over hurdles at Catterick last month. All turf wins on soft ground and, as she's 0-3 on the AW others are preferred.

Second time after a layoff of 233 days she ran on well for fourth over C&D latest beaten under 2L. That could set her up for a career-best now and cheekpieces often irk out a little extra so looks a realistic contender now.

Six-race maiden getting little closer and latest 10th of 12 at Newcastle the final nail in his coffin as one to avoid.

Off the track three years before two ordinary efforts here although second run was marginally better. Could take another step forward now but it will need to be a sizable one.

Dual course winner whose previous two efforts have been somewhat underwhelming. Struggled off this sort of mark in the past, and is probably one to dismiss for now until he begins to look well-handicapped again.

C&D winner in good form from June through to December but two 2020 starts less compelling and latest run at Chelmsford gives him an enormous amount to find given he was nine places behind Fair Power.

Cheeky Rascal7
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-2| J: Tom Marquand| T: T Ward| OR:  60

Placed three times for this yard and latest two fourths similarly solid efforts so has realistic place claims although overall 1-33 record rather tempers enthusiasm.

Three-time turf winner 0-13 on AW although comes here after several decent efforts. Latest C&D fourth quite respectable but draw 13 stiffens the task although sometimes front-runs so may be able to negate that with a fast start.

1L third in a 1m Southwell handicap in fourth start a step forward but unable to match the effort when the jockey reported him to be never travelling. Beautifully bred and still open to improvement.

Had twice finished third over C&D before never involved sixth last time out. Can go well off this mark but overall 1-33 record means others are preferred.

Beau Geste14
Age: 4|  Weight: 8-13| J: Hollie Doyle| T: A W Carroll| OR:  57| CD
2/1
Took record to 2-3 for this yard when landing a C&D handicap latest having also won on his only previous visit. Upped 4lb but likely still ahead of the handicapper and if he is few of these well handicapped enough to cope.

Forecasts

Beau Geste (2/1), Cheeky Rascal (11/2), Thawry (8/1), Fox Shinji (8/1), Beatbybeatbybeat (10/1), Fair Power (12/1), Embrace The Moment (14/1), Enzo (18/1), Iconic Code (20/1), Red Gunner (20/1), Bobba Tee (25/1), Double Reflection (25/1), Totally Committed (80/1)

Verdict

Since joining Tony Carroll from Ireland BEAU GESTE has improved markedly and this lightly raced four-year-old rates a confident selection to follow up his C&D win last time out. Obviously with 13 runners it won't be plain sailing and consistent sort Fair Power may give the selection the most to think about although Embrace The Moment also looks primed to go well.
