Much his best effort in qualifying when eighth of 16 to Normandy Soldier in a 2m3f novice at Hereford last time. Going the right way, and although opening mark is not exactly lenient, he's not taken lightly on handicap bow.
Would have been closer over C&D on penultimate start but for a couple of errors, but again weakened late when fourth at Wetherby last time, and needs to see his races out better to take advantage of a fair mark.
Best effort in handicaps when a staying-on fifth over 3m at Hexham in May 2018, but not seen since running a lesser race at Uttoxeter in November of that year, and entitled to be rusty after another lay-off.
Shaped well enough stepped up in trip for her first experience in handicaps at Bangor (2m7f, heavy) in November. Weakened late when fourth of 10 to Mole Trap in 3m1½f mares handicap at Hereford last time, so drop back in trip looks a wise move.
Best effort in this sphere when fifth in a maiden at Downpatrick in May for Patrick Griffin, but he's struggled since, and no great promise in two starts for new yard.
Maiden who looked to be going the wrong way, but staged a revival when 2¼L fifth of 12 to Not The Chablis in a 2½m handicap at Musselburgh last time, finishing well. Worth a try at this trip on that evidence, and respected.
Performing creditably apart from one blip this term, and looked better than ever over fences when head second of 15 to Great Tempo at Taunton (3¼m, soft) last month. A strong pace will help bring her undoubted stamina into play back over timber.
Matched previous modest best when fourth of 10 to Timely Gift at Market Rasen (2m7f) on penultimate start, but ran poorly at Wetherby last time, and is not easy to support with confidence.
Failed to complete in three starts in point-to-points since winning his maiden, and no show in three starts over hurdles over inadequate trips. May improve now handicapping, but opening mark looks very stiff on balance.
Low-grade Flat handicapper who has been well beaten in three starts to date in this sphere. Needs to improve markedly to get competitive on handicap debut.
In the frame on both starts between the flags, but has shown only a modicum of ability in four starts over hurdles, and beaten 70L when third at Southwell last time after wind surgery. Open to improvement now handicapping, and needs a market check.
Been tried in a variety of headgear, and plugged on late when second to Wenceslaus over fences at Plumpton (2½m) on penultimate outing. Ran poorly in a visor last time, however, and headgear off now reverting to hurdles.
Showed improved form when getting off the mark at Warwick in May 2018 over 3m1f, but has shown little in the last year, including over fences, and makes no appeal on recent evidence.
Was successful at Uttoxeter (2m7½f) back in June, and ran one of his better races when third there last time. Form elsewhere is not so goo, however, and he's opposable on balance.
In frame in handicaps on her last four starts at further then 2m, and again ran with credit when third of 14 to Just Call Me Al in a 2m3f amateur handicap at Catterick last time. Untried beyond 2m5f, but every chance if proving her stamina.
Little promise in qualifying runs, and well beaten in two handicap outings. Cheekpieces tried now, and still early days, but hard to get excited about her prospects from out of the handicap.
Forecasts
Evenstevens (9/2), The Boola Bee (5/1), Connective (7/1), Jessica Rabbit (8/1), Hang Tough (9/1), Jobsonfire (10/1), Catchmeifyoucan (11/1), Sultans Pride (12/1), Ballyfarsoon (12/1), Simply Lucky (14/1), Quasha (20/1), Lexi (25/1), Enforcement (25/1), Ring Minella (33/1), Black Market (66/1), Strategic (100/1)
Jessica Rabbit has found her level, and will go well if proving her stamina now upped markedly in trip, while Evenstevens is the most interesting of a number of handicap debutants, but the vote goes to THE BOOLA BEE who is a dual winner over fences this term. looked as good as ever when a close second last time, and ran well in the conditions when fourth over hurdles at Taunton on her penultimate start.
- The Boola Bee
- Jessica Rabbit
- Evenstevens
