Four-time C&D winner with the latest victory coming on his penultimate start off a lower mark that he had been successful off earlier in the year. Hampered by a slow start last time he finished just behind Samovar; will do better with a clean break.
Enigmatic but useful sort on this surface having won here five times with his best form coming over 5f. Often makes a mess of the start which puts him on the back foot as when tried over 6f last time; capable of winning this if he gets away on terms.
Course winner over 6f on his career debut and has for the most part maintained a positive profile since. Below-par over 6f here last time he deserves another chance to show his ability on this surface but has to prove himself over 5f.
Took advantage of a good opportunity at Ayr in the summer over 5f having tumbled down the weights. Displayed his rather less appealing side after that refusing to race on one occasion; doesn't look one to trust against some Fibresand specialists.
Yet to race on Fibresand he has at least slipped back down to his last winning mark and ran better than for a while last time out at Lingfield (5f). That wasn't a particularly strong contest though and he faces a few more adept on this surface.
Stable won this last year with Ornate and he's a three-time C&D winner himself. Run respectably of late (already had two runs this year) and may well make use of a falling handicap mark soon but likely to find one or two too good.
Forecasts
Moonraker (2/1), Astro Jakk (9/4), Samovar (4/1), Warrior's Valley (4/1), Cappananty Con (22/1), Robot Boy (33/1)
Only two of this small field haven’t won here with three of the field having won over C&D. This race may be decided at the start with two of the main players and C&D winners MOONRAKER and Samovar capable of fluffing the start. The suggestion was slowly away last time but he’s not a serial offender on that score unlike Scott Dixon’s charge who has blown the start on numerous occasions. Astro Jakk looks the main danger to those two having won over 6f here on his debut a first-time visor may just perk him up. David Griffith’s won this last year and that means his Warrior’s Valley is worth a look in the betting.
- Moonraker
- Samovar
- Astro Jakk
