First run for new yard having become very disappointing for Richard Fahey (sold for 5,000 guineas in October). Well below her last winning mark and the drop in grade will be a bonus; need to see what she can achieve back on AW.
Dual C&D winner with those two wins being part of the five that she accumulated last year. Not seen for a while now and yet to win off a mark above 70 but has won when fresh before and not one to be neglected in calculations.
Winner of a novice over 1m when with Roger Charlton at Kempton but offered little on her first start for this yard over an extended 1m here. Forced wide on the home turn she didn't look straightforward and will be best watched for now.
Mainly consistent since her last win that came off this mark over 6f in soft ground at Hamilton in July. Finished a modest fourth when last seen at Newcastle over 1m; never tried at this trip before this will also be her first run at this track.
C&D winner who has dropped back below her last winning mark but the reduction in her mark has been due to some below-par performances. Back in headgear (cheekpieces) last time but ran no sort of race over 7f at Chelmsford; others are more persuasive.
Her runs in minor events in late 2018 looked all about preparing her for handicaps showing some promise on all three occasions. Missed all of last year but now returns for her handicap debut; has a fine pedigree, interesting if the market speaks.
Front-runner who has scored four times on turf but has yet to open her AW account despite 17 attempts on various surfaces including being 0-3 over C&D. Handicapper is starting to relent but others present a far stronger case.
Bounced back to form over 6f here last time recording her second win of the year having been successful at Doncaster (6f, good) in August. Yet to win at this trip though (0-4) and there are some stronger stayers amongst the opposition.
Forecasts
Fantastic Flyer (10/3), Dancing Rave (7/2), Starlight Romance (5/1), Dubai Elegance (11/2), Eponina (11/2), Javelin (17/2), Shamameya (14/1), Yimkin (22/1)
A decent end to the card with a few having claims to winning this 7f handicap. The one last time out winner in the field Dubai Elegance only got up in the last few strides over 6f here last time but with her record over 7f reading 0-4 others look more enticing. Fantastic Flyer ran well enough over 6f last time and tis versatile sort could well burst back to life off a break over a C&D she won twice over last year. Dancing Rave and Starlight Romance will have their supporters but SHAMAMEYA is the most interesting of all making her handicap debut off a mark that could be lenient. She’s half-sister to several winners and looks just the type to be better than her opening mark.
- Shamameya
- Fantastic Flyer
- Dancing Rave
