Built upon promising handicap debut two starts ago to go one better at Lingfield (7f; standard) last month. Up 5lb as she steps back up to 1m, but is up against some exposed sorts here and is firmly on the up. The one to beat.
Irish representative who was never at the races in seven starts last year. 6lb below last winning mark, but looks one to oppose with confidence for now given the manner of defeats he has suffered of late.
Showed improvement on Irish form when making debut for this stable at Newcastle (7f; standard). Went down by just a neck in second then, and could be open to further improvement as she steps back up in trip off just a 1lb higher mark.
Vastly more exposed than his rivals, but did win at Chelmsford (1m; standard) on his penultimate start. Nowhere near that form most recently when only ninth of 15 at that same track over 1m2f. Others have more likeable profiles.
Vulnerable to improvers and is still searching for elusive first career success after nine attempts. However, his recent fourth at Newcastle (1m; standard) was more encouraging. Dropped a further 2lb since then and could be ready to run a big race.
Stayed on to grab third over C&D on stable debut/return from a long break here last month. Now goes handicapping and could well find further improvement if able building on previous effort. High on the shortlist.
Form has curtailed in drastic fashion of late, and she has trailed in last on her previous two starts. Mark is beginning to tumble as a result, but you would like vastly more encouragement to be shown before placing faith into her.
Dropped 3lb after what was a low-key handicap debut over 7f at this track last month. Could come on from that given it was his first run after a short break. Check market vibes for this lightly raced sort.
0-12 but arguably posted a career-best when runner-up at Chelmsford (1m; standard) last month. Only been raised 1lb for that so holds solid claims of being involved at the business end of proceedings once more.
Seven-race maiden whose third over C&D two starts ago would give her solid place claims if able to reproduce that form. Not as good last time at Wolverhampton (1m1f; standard), but return to this trip/track should help.
Most recent run was encouraging when he finished sixth of 11 at Wolverhampton (1m; standard), given how woefully he ran the time before that. Sole run at this track back in October when third offers hope he could finishing in the placings.
Long losing run has seen him fall 20lb below his last winning mark. Short break didn't look to do him much good when he returned from it and finished ninth at Wolverhampton (1m; standard) last month. Best watched.
Posted a low-key effort on handicap debut at Lingfield (1m2f; standard). Now drops back in trip, and his debut effort which came over C&D is the best run he has to his name. Needs to reproduce that to feature. Risky proposition.
Form has tailed off of late, and he was never involved at Lingfield (7f; standard) most recently. Subsequently just 1lb above last winning mark, but looks nowhere near ready to take advantage of reduced mark.
Forecasts
Maqboola (2/1), Elena Osorio (5/1), Waitaki (6/1), Azets (13/2), Never To Forget (8/1), Turquoise Friendly (16/1), Medici Moon (16/1), Martin King (16/1), Emerald Fox (25/1), Caledonia Laird (33/1), Arlecchino's Leap (40/1), Eesha's Smile (40/1), Jupiter (50/1), Descendant (50/1)
After she broke her maiden duck at the fifth attempt, MAQBOOLA is a confident selection to follow-up that recent victory and cope with a subsequent 5lb rise. She has just the type of profile you need in these sorts of races, as an improving, unexposed type. As for her rivals, both Emerald Fox and Waitaki stepped up on their previous exertions when making their debuts for new yards. The latter would be of particular interest if the market spoke positively in favour of her. Elena Osario and Medici Moon need to bounce back from recent disappointments, but both posted more encouraging efforts when last seen over this C&D.
- Maqboola
- Emerald Fox
- Elena Osorio
