May have needed the run after a short break when fourth on AW debut at Lingfield (1m; standard). Could step up significantly on that effort and his handicap debut on his penultimate start offered a great deal of promise.
Not hard to envisage him reversing recent placings with Beat The Breeze after he finished just behind that rival at Lingfield (7f; standard) recently. Shaped as though the step up to 1m would suit. Open to improvement on just second handicap start.
Not seen since July, and is stepped up markedly trip on handicap debut from 5f to 1m. One of two runners in this race for the yard, and looks to be the stable first string based on jockey bookings.
Handicap debut offered plenty of promise when she finished a close-up third over C&D two starts ago. However, she was well below-par most recently when 11th of 13 (again over C&D). Place claims if that was just an off day.
Took a major step in the wrong direction when coming home last of 10 at Chelmsford (7f; standard) just under a month ago. Has a lot to prove off the back of that. Watching brief advised.
Bit inconsistent in recent starts, but hard to fault his latest run when a short-head second at Southwell (1m; standard) just six days ago. However, his standout two career runs have both came at that track. Needs to prove he can act elsewhere.
Likely that he ran to a similar level than he did on handicap debut when a close fourth at Lingfield (7f; standard) just a week ago. Claims off an unchanged mark with the step up to 1m offering the hope of further improvement.
Has proven to be a major disappointment for powerful connections in four runs so far. Been dropped 3lb after finishing ninth (placed eighth) at Southwell (1m; standard) recently. Given a final chance with the possibility he didn't enjoy the surface.
Produced a career-best effort when runner-up at Newcastle (1m; standard) last month on just his third handicap start. Could have a say if able to build on that run off just a 2lb higher mark.
Looks a regressive sort, as shown by her lack of improvement since switched to handicaps. Most recent effort when sixth of seven at Wolverhampton (1m; standard) took her record under rules to 0-6.
Backed up encouraging C&D run on his penultimate start when better again over C&D in third last time out. May be vulnerable to improvers, but he is going the right way so holds solid claims when in current form.
Steps up to 1m on AW/handicap debut, but is yet to show any room for optimism in three starts to date. Beaten a long way when fifth of six at Chester (7f; good to soft) most recently. This is a different test altogether.
Seven-race maiden who hasn't shown a great deal of improvement for the switch to handicaps. However, his effort last time out was more encouraging when not beaten far into fifth over C&D. Place claims at best.
Next to no ability shown in any of his three starts in maiden/novice company, including when making AW debut on step up to this trip last month. Handed a basement mark on handicap debut and is impossible to fancy.
Forecasts
Today Power (15/8), Love My Life (5/1), Fair Warning (6/1), Dark Phoenix (7/1), Beat The Breeze (10/1), Broughtons Compass (14/1), Speed Dating (16/1), Ask Siri (16/1), Twittering (20/1), Disarming (25/1), Contract Kid (25/1), Looks Good (33/1), Bright Spells (66/1), Handful Of Gold (100/1)
Another open-looking race with Broughtons Compass and Ask Siri solid each-way contenders based on their most recent efforts, though they are vulnerable to improvers. It is too soon to write off Today Power after he was only fourth on his return from a break. He remains unexposed and respected for these connections. The pair to focus on look to be DARK PHOENIX and Beat The Breeze. The former finished just behind the latter when they met at Lingfield recently. Despite the latter being weighted to confirm those placings, this is only the formers second start in a handicap, and he is open to further improvement on his first crack at 1m.
- Dark Phoenix
- Beat The Breeze
- Today Power
