Three-time winner at this track (1m4f-1m6f); thrashed the subsequent winner Grandscape by 11L here (1m6f) in November; beaten 5L by the re-opposing Contingency Fee off a hastily revised mark thereafter.

Kept on to finish second to the Sir Mark Prescott-trained Alma Linda at Chelmsford (1m) in August; slightly disappointing since and you can only worry about her stamina reserves over this extended 1m3f.

Appeared to relish the step up in trip (from 1m) when successful over 1m4f here in early December (Contingency Fee beaten 11L in fourth); ran well, yet was turned over (third) at short odds next time (6-5f); 1lb higher today.

4lb higher than when fending off Lady Scatterley in a four-runner Class 5 handicap at Doncaster (1m2f, good to firm) in July; consistent since (63235), albeit with the evidence-backed view that the handicapper has his measure.

Won three times on the Flat (for David Menuisier & Richard John O'Brien) and evidently stays well; hasn't taken to hurdling for Gavin Cromwell (0-8); one to monitor in the market exchanges on Fibresand debut.

Angel Lane (15/8), Crimson King (2/1), Debbonair (5/1), Restive (11/2), Contingency Fee (13/2), Bianca Minola (16/1), Filles De Fleur (25/1)

Verdict

ANGEL LANE was a beaten favourite over 1m4f here 13 days ago, but she remains lightly raced (1-5) and open to further improvement for Karl Burke. A winner when upped-in-trip here previously she has the measure of Contingency Fee (fourth) on that basis with similar comments applicable to Restive on a line through the Phil McEntee-trained runner. The consistent Debbonair appears to be in the grip of the handicapper, while the 12-race maiden Crimson King has a questionable attitude. The Irish-raider Bianca Minola needs a market check on her return to the Flat (Fibresand debut).
  1. Angel Lane
  2. Bianca Minola
  3. Contingency Fee
