Likes it here and has won twice over a 1m on only two previous visits to this Sunbury track. Brave winner here last week and carried 5lb penalty dropping down a furlong but should again give a very good account of himself.
Fair maiden form in three starts last term for Charlie Appleby but has struggled for current yard this season despite tumbling handicap mark. 3lb lower than latest effort and is hard to recommend.
Showed a good attitude at both Chelmsford and Lingfield last month to score over 7f and has run creditably here in the past. Up further 3lb but in the form of his life and set to make an impact yet again.
First-time cheekpieces applied after failing to make much impression for current yard in two start on Channel Islands this summer. Hard to enthuse over on handicap bow on British mainland.
Went close for John Mackie on handicap bow over 6f at Wolverhampton last winter. Failed by just a short-head on debut for current yard back there in June over 7f but not seen since running badly soon after.
Struggled in five disappointing starts last winter prior to long break and ran fine race when close second at Wolverhampton last month on first start back. 1lb higher but may go well if 'bounce' factor doesn't kick in.
Landed Brighton 7f handicap in May and not disgraced in three starts soon after. 106-day break prior to run creditably for a long way here last month and should strip fitter this time. off 2lb lower mark and with first-time visor in place.
C&D winner in September off 5lb lower and run with credit in all three starts since then. Return here offers hope of a good run but may just be in grip of handicapper now.
Won this last year off 8lb lower and followed up again over C&D in February. Scored twice at Wolverhampton this autumn and not disgraced last two starts either. Likely to make bold bid for a repeat success.
Yard in decent form and played his part with good win at Lingfield last time where finished well off 3lb lower mark. Record breaking jockey takes over and may again be in the thick of the action.
Yet to win beyond 6f, and although has run some decent races in defeat since spring hasn't convinced he stays this trip in two efforts this term. Draw done him no favours either.
5,500gns at Newmarket Sales having failed to live up to 210,000gns price tag in three starts for Clive Cox in mile novice stakes. Handicap bow now off modest mark, but hasn't shown much really and market move needed to inspire confidence.
10-race maiden but wasn't disgraced on first try up to 7f last time when stayed on into fifth at Lingfield. Not out of it on pick of form but may find a few too good once again.
Scrambled home here over 6f three starts back but hasn't looked as though he sees out this extra furlong in six previous attempts. Others make far more appeal.
Forecasts
Brains (11/4), Calin's Lad (9/2), Garth Rockett (6/1), Mont Kiara (8/1), Ubla (9/1), Hit The Beat (10/1), Viola Park (14/1), Swissal (20/1), Fly The Nest (20/1), Martin King (25/1), Painted Dream (25/1), Hollander (40/1), Perfect Symphony (40/1), Lyrical Ballad (66/1)
Last year's winner Viola Park could be set for another big effort, but the nod goes to the top weight BRAINS who has won on both previous visits here and is expected to take the drop back to this trip in his stride and defy the handicapper. Lingfield winner Mont Kiara, the first-time visored Swissal, the hat-trick seeking Garth Rocket, and the back to form Hit The Beat are others of interest in a typically open handicap finale.
- Brains
- Hit The Beat
