Second foal; dam French 1m-1m2f winner; doesn't leap out of page on breeding and market likely to provide the best guide to his chances.
Cost 13,000 euros as a yearling; related to plenty of winners including useful miler Dancingwithwolves; and French trained winners up to 1m2f; hard to assess but strong market support would be interesting.

Telescope half-brother to 5f/6f Pancake Day and useful 5f-1m winner Roll On Rory; raced too keenly on debut at Ascot in May; will be stronger here though first-time headgear a slight concern.

Cost 11,000 euros as a yearling; related to many speedy types; would not need to be anything out of the ordinary to play a leading role and is one to consider if market vibes are good.

Bought for 25,000 guineas as a yearling last October; half-brother to multiple winner Al Hamdany ; green but running on on debut at Lingfield in September; chance to progress.

€15,000 2yo; third foal; showed a good deal of promise on his debut at Newcastle last month and if given a more positive ride, he could be one of the leading contenders.

Dunkerque filly out of a mare who was placed on the Flat in France; was doing her best work in the closing stages of her debut at Lingfield at the end of October; entitled to improve and one for the shortlist.

Fourth foal; dam 7f-1m2f (Listed) winner; always towards rear when finishing closer to last than first on debut at Kempton recently; has scope to improve but hard to make a case for on limited evidence.
Kendargent filly and a half-sister to winner El Picador; unable to land a blow on either of her racecourse appearances; likely to need more experience before troubling the judge.

100/1
Harbour Watch filly who is full-sister to a 6f AW winner; weak on both racecourse appearances in late November and hard to see where the sudden improvement in form will come from in order to get competitive.

Forecasts

Martin's Brig (13/8), Mazikeen (5/2), Flash To Bang (7/2), Beechwood Jim Bob (8/1), Indigo Times (12/1), Alborkan (20/1), Nikolayeva (25/1), Rosa Gold (40/1), Hoorayforthegrey (50/1), Sparkling Or Still (80/1), Welsh Back (100/1)

Verdict

MARTIN'S BRIG was well backed on his racecourse debut at Newcastle over seven furlongs early last month and shaped that day as though he will appreciate this step up in trip. Expect him to be well supported if connections think he is ready to get of the mark. Another who showed promise on her debut was Mazikeen. The filly looked as though she was getting the hang of things in the closing stages at Lingfield in October and if able to build on that she may give the selection most to worry about. If Indigo Times can show he has matured from his racecourse debut in September then the gelding has every chance to progress and should be winning sooner or later.
  1. Martin's Brig
  2. Mazikeen
  3. Indigo Times
