A £290,000 buy after winning maiden point in February 2018, races in the colours of Gold Cup hero Al Boum Photo and very much one to note having taken some time to make it to the track for champion trainer.
Pulled up in a couple of point-to-points, the most recent of them being in 2017. Best watched now.
Runner-up in third and final start in point-to-points, will be sporting a hood on rules bow and could have something to offer.
Maiden point-to-pointer when last sighted in that sphere a year ago, may have limited expectations on first start under rules.
Raintrap gelding. Dam unraced. Yard not noted for winners in bumpers and easily passed over on debut.
Irish Wells gelding out of a Mansonnien mare. Offered something on debut at Punchestown before fading late in the piece. Possible improver.
Maiden pointer, represents trainer without a bumper winner in five seasons. Watching brief on debut.
Stoutly-bred; related to some hurdle and chase winners; tailed off in a bumper at Naas 12 days ago on debut having started 100-1.
Daughter of King Cheetah out of a Roselier mare. Half-sister to Kyle's Turn, winner over hurdles and fences running between 2m and 2m6f. Dam, bumper winner between 2m4f and 3m. Worth a market check.
By Tikkanen and the first foal of an unraced mare from family of Drinmore Chase winner Promalee. Yard not commonly associated with bumper winners.
Sholokhov mare out of a dam who won eight races; she finished second on debut at Clonmel in a mares bumper in February and has been off since. Form hasn't proved strong but could hold similar aspirations now.
Forecasts
Asterion Forlonge (1/4), Ugo Du Misselot (6/1), Ruhm Und Ehre (7/1), Watergate Lady (8/1), Rebel Gold (14/1), Cornhill Lass (33/1), Woddy Wynne (33/1), Lucky Mare (33/1), Tick Along (50/1), Quarry Royale (66/1), Tom Dillinger (66/1)
This looks a weak enough bumper on paper and so it is very likely to fall to the Willie Mullins-trained newcomer ASTERION FORLONGE. Connections have seen Al Boum Photo land the Gold Cup since £290,000 was paid for this point-to-point winner in the spring of 2018, but that absence shouldn't prove a hindrance given his trainer's record. Watergate Lady was second in a mares bumper on debut in February and, while the form isn't strong, she could make the frame again. Ugo Du Misselot is a possible improver, while Lucky Mare is another newcomer worth a look.
- Asterion Forlonge
