Only winner in the line-up, but has a 7lb penalty to concede to the rest of the field after winning on AW debut at Kempton (1m; standard to slow) last month. Drops back in trip and should make a bold bid.

Latest effort when tailed off at Pontefract (6f; soft) was even worse than her debut run over 6f at this track. Subsequently has plenty to prove, and cannot be fancied.

4/1
Seven-race maiden who is clearly the most exposed in this contest, and looks vulnerable to improvers. Last seen at Southwell (7f; standard) in this grade on Monday when third. Place claims at best.

Tailed off (in the same race as Lady Dandy) over this trip on debut at Wolverhampton (7f; standard). Can be ruled out with confidence in this contest, with masses to find off the back of that effort.

Never involved on either of her two starts to date. Both of which have came at Wolverhampton over 7f/6f. Impossible to fancy as another quiet display looks in the offing.

Battle Of Marengo filly who made €22,000 as a yearling. Yard well-known for their success with two-year-olds and in particular newcomers so she has to be respected. Speedy pedigree (related to a couple of 5f winners).

Newcomer by Ruler Of The World. Cost 18,000gns as a yearling. Half-sister to Firby (winner over 1m4f). Yard out of form at present, so one to oppose for now, but she should have a future.

Pulled hard and looked in need of the experience on debut when fourth in a good quality novice race over C&D. Major claims on that form, and should be much wiser this time round. Huge chance.

Velma20
Age: 2|  Weight: 9-0| J: Paula Muir(5)| T: C W Fairhurst
9/1
Ran a huge race for one sent off at 100-1 when fourth over C&D on debut. Needs to prove that was no fluke, but this looks an open race, and she could be thereabouts again. Not to be underestimated.

Harbour Watch filly who made £16,000 as a yearling. Full-sister to a 6f AW winner. Is also a half-sister to Avenue Of Stars who has won over 6f at this track before. Could play a part.

Forecasts

Time Voyage (5/4), Queen Gamrah (5/2), Dancing Leopard (4/1), Velma (9/1), River Song (18/1), Welsh Back (28/1), Summerbridge (33/1), Cindy Looper (80/1), Dark Discretion (200/1), Lady Dandy (200/1)

Verdict

There are plenty in this contest who can be quickly ruled out. The Karl Burke-trained Dancing Leopard is now 0-7 after finishing third at Southwell on Monday, but she went close here at the start of the month and doesn't seem regressive so should finish in the placings. Queen Gamrah took a good step forward from an encouraging debut effort to get off the mark at Kempton, and although it is likely she will put up a respectable performance giving away 7lbs, she will do well to beat TIME VOYAGE under a penalty. The selection did well to finish fourth on debut over C&D for one so green, and the form of that contest stands out in this race.
  1. Time Voyage
  2. Queen Gamrah
  3. Dancing Leopard
