Despite being well-backed had struggled on the surface over longer trips before being tried over C&D last time and responding with win. Now back with his former yard after leaving Mick Appleby; drop in grade although his draw may be a negative.

Alba Del Solep26
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: R Kingscote| T: C Wallis| OR:  50
20/1
Modest handicapper (1-24) who has been well below form on her last two starts (can be slow away). On a long losing run with her form here reading poorly; only her third try at 5f; makes fairly limited appeal.

Yet to win a race but has at least shown something on this surface finishing second over this trip here in September (not so good over 6f/Fibresand next time). Respectable midfield effort in a low-grade Kempton handicap last time; not written off.

14/1
C&D winner in first-time blinkers causing a 25-1 surprise (made all) back in August; as yet failed to match that form in three subsequent starts. Back on track though to a certain extent last time and this looks a little easier.

Bonnie Parkt15
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: S A Gray| T: M J Smith| OR:  36
14/1
Irish raider who has yet to win a race or run on Fibresand (had two Polytrack starts). Shaped as though he would be better for the run last time when not beaten far in a Navan 5f, soft handicap; one to note for a market move.

Dollywaggon Pike82
Age: 5|  Weight: 9-0| J: Raul Da Silva| T: J R Jenkins| OR:  42

No real form to speak of and yet to win a race having only been seen once this year when finishing third at Bath in August (modest handicap). Previous efforts here haven't really shown anything; weights leave her something to find.

Gala N Dandyp2
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: Gavin Brouder(7)| T: S M Duffy| OR:  36
50/1
21 Flat start to her name and still a maiden showing very little over C&D in a handicap last time (beat one home). Out of sorts for most of the year, has a tough task at the weights and very hard to build a case for her chance.

Le Manege Enchantev9
Age: 6|  Weight: 9-0| J: Lewis Edmunds| T: D Shaw| OR:  46| D
20/1
Unreliable sort who isn't really of any interest in handicaps but may have more chance in this lowly grade if she puts her best foot forward. Badly hampered at the start last time over C&D; has at least one races in the past.

Loulint17
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: J P Sullivan| T: Mrs R Carr| OR:  47
10/1
Has one or two effort on this surface that standout such as his third over 6f in May and even his midfield effort after being slow away over C&D last time passes muster in this company. If he can break on level terms one of the more interesting sorts

Madame Ritz15
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: J Fanning| T: R T Phillips| OR:  50
12/1
Did at least manage to win a Wolverhampton minor event in early 2018 over 6f; has for the most part been out of sorts since then. Should have been seen to good advantage last time but failed to make an impact; more needed to be of interest.

Mocead Cappallt18
Age: 4|  Weight: 9-0| J: Toby Eley(5)| T: J R Holt| OR:  44
100/1
Like a fair few in this field has never visited the winners enclosure (0-16); finished last on her two most recent starts since returning from a 13 month break. Tongue-tie goes on for the first-time; makes very limited appeal.

Mysusyb47
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: B A Curtis| T: R M H Cowell| OR:  46
50/1
Fibresand newcomer who has yet to prove that she has trained on this season with her one standout effort coming as a 2yo (third in an AW nursery). Blinkers tried last time are given another go but hard to see them working this time.

Sambucca Spirit9
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-0| J: K Stott| T: P T Midgley| OR:  50

Modest enough form and yet to win a race but this could be the opening he's been searching for having put together two decent efforts of late (one over C&D). Has less convictions than most and is proven on the surface; leading chance.

Thornaby Princessp39
Age: 8|  Weight: 9-0| J: T Eaves| T: J Ward| OR:  48| D
33/1
Only one previous C&D attempt a long while ago which failed to suggest that she acted here. However she may deserve another chance having ended a long losing run earlier this year over 5f and shapes as though she is still in good form.

Forecasts

Sambucca Spirit (1/1), Blackcurrent (17/2), Loulin (10/1), Filbert Street (10/1), Madame Ritz (12/1), Bonnie Park (14/1), Bluella (14/1), Alba Del Sole (20/1), Le Manege Enchante (20/1), Thornaby Princess (33/1), Gala N Dandy (50/1), Mysusy (50/1), Dollywaggon Pike (80/1), Mocead Cappall (100/1)

Verdict

Not the most appealing of contests to be investing in with winning and/or Fibresand form rather thin on the ground. Filbert Street struck in a better race than this over C&D last time when with Mick Appleby, now back with his former yard his chance is obvious in this company although the draw could have been kinder. SAMBUCCA SPRIT is therefore taken to open his career account after showing that he could cope with this surface and as a fairly-lightly raced 3yo has less convictions than several in this. Thornaby Princess should also be considered but Loulin makes more appeal if he can break on terms for once.
  1. Sambucca Spirit
  2. Filbert Street
  3. Loulin
