Yet to fire since arriving at this yard with his most recent efforts particularly disappointing. Races mainly at 6f/7f (last win came over the latter trip); hard to make a case for him unless there was market support.

Well below form over C&D last time in a first-time tongue-tie and although he's lightly-raced there doesn't appear to have been much improvement since he moved into handicaps. Eased again in the weights but hard to enthuse over.

Still only has one standout effort to his name and may not be one to give up on entirely just yet (has less convictions that most in this). Still needs to take a step forward as he tries 1m for the first time.

Modest maiden whose best effort came when second in a Brighton maiden in August over 7f. Not in the same form over 7f here last time; stable are good with this sort and she doesn't have many convictions in handicaps as yet.

On a losing sequence that is starting to get longer and longer although there were signs that he might be able to break that streak soon last time. Shaped well over C&D to take third; 11lb below his last winning mark, on the shortlist.

Dual C&D winner who had bee shaping well prior to recording the second of those C&D victories last time off a 4lb lower mark. Led close home but looked to have a little in hand; will continue to be of interest at this level.

Has on occasions shown that he is capable of wining a race but has yet to prove himself over 1m (struggled at this distance last time). Effort last time looked laboured; would need to prove himself in better heart before supporting.

Bred to be better than this grade she now goes in handicaps for the first time with cheekpieces added. Well backed over C&D last time when second she should have a chance but hardly looks well handicapped.

0-18 isn't the type of record that you want but has looked capable of winning something like this if you take his last few starts as evidence. Not knocked around last time when unlucky in the run; needs everything to fall right though.

Starts out with a new yard on the back of some very disappointing efforts (mainly over further) for his former yard. Dropped down to 7f last time (wore first-time blinkers) but failed to sparkle; best watched unless supported here.

Three-time course winner once over this trip who has made little impact on turf this year and continued in that manner when back over C&D last time (behind Purple Paddy); work to do overall if she's to regain the winning thread.

His second place at Leicester in a seller gave a clue as to his quirks (threw the race away); failed to make any impact on the AW recently also in the same grade. Can be slow away; hard to warm to and not one to trust.

Finished second over 7f here on her only previous foray onto the AW prior to wining at Epsom off 4lb lower in July over 7f. Well beaten on turf when last seen; now returns to the AW with some questions to answer.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: L Morris| T: Paul George| OR:  51| D

Finally opened her account when coming from a seemingly hopeless position to take a Leicester 1m seller in July. Not disgraced since then (mostly in handicaps); acts on AW but isn't one to totally rely on.

Forecasts

Purple Paddy (10/3), Pearl Jam (9/2), Tebay (5/1), Four Mile Bridge (5/1), Geneva Spur (12/1), Rifft (14/1), Paddy's Pursuit (16/1), Max Guevara (16/1), Mister Musicmaster (25/1), Ecstasea (25/1), Lippy Lady (25/1), Solveig's Song (25/1), Lady Morpheus (33/1), Declamation (100/1)

Verdict

Not hard to find question marks and queries against plenty of these and it may be best to play safe and side with last time out C&D winner PURPLE PADDY who travelled well in that contest and despite only winning narrowly should be able to cope with a 4lb rise. Mister Musicmaster was third on that occasion and he looks to have sound place prospects again with Four Mile Bridge another interesting contender in first-time headgear having run a sound race last time. Pearl Jam for all that she’s not thrown-in for her handicap debut has less convictions than most and may well take another step forward at this lowly level.
  1. Purple Paddy
  2. Mister Musicmaster
  3. Four Mile Bridge
