Age: 3|  Weight: 9-7| J: S M Levey| T: R Hannon| OR:  100
In a rich vein of form over 1m on the Polytrack at Kempton (1212); 3lb higher than when beating the progressive Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly Rombola by a neck on his penultimate start; respected, yet 0-2 at 1m2f and beyond.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: Rob Hornby| T: M Meade| OR:  95
Twice a winner on heavy ground, including in the Group 3 Prix La Force at Longchamp (1m1f) in April 2018; hasn't necessarily excelled since, finishing a well beaten last of nine in the Darley Stakes at Newmarket latest; risky proposition.

Age: 6|  Weight: 9-5| J: Ray Dawson(5)| T: Jane Chapple-Hyam| OR:  94| D
Three-time winner for Nicolas Clement in France (1m2f-1m4f) before missing two years, fair run on reappearance/stable bow, but beaten close to 20L since in a Chester Group 3 over 1m5½f (soft); seemingly up against it again in this small field.

Majestic Dawn10
Age: 3|  Weight: 9-1| J: David Egan| T: P & O Cole| OR:  94| C| D
Fairly lightly raced (2-8); made all when winning a 1m3f maiden here (good to soft) in April; solid since in top notch handicaps, including when fifth in the Cambridgeshire; 5lb rise for a recent heavy ground Nottingham success (1m2f).

Severanceh66
Age: 3|  Weight: 8-11| J: Callum Shepherd| T: M R Channon| OR:  90
Like Majestic Dawn, he hasn't seen too much racing (1-7); 7L winner of a 1m4f Haydock novice in April; sixth of 16 in the King George Handicap at Royal Ascot; scaled new heights latest when a pleasing third to Deal A Dollar (1m4f, Kempton); chance.

Forecasts

Majestic Dawn (6/4), Kuwait Currency (2/1), Chilean (11/2), Severance (6/1), Dalgarno (12/1)

Verdict

Severance returns to action following a short break since finishing a pleasing third to Deal A Dollar over 1m4f at Kempton in August, and could have greater stamina reserves than the consistent top-weight Kuwait Currency. However, in what is an uncharacteristically small field Class 2 handicap the vote goes to the improving Paul Cole-trained colt MAJESTIC DAWN. A creditable fifth in the Cambridgeshire on his penultimate start, he resumed winning ways under similar testing conditions at Colwick Park Nottingham (heavy) and is fancied to cope with the subsequent 5lb rise in the handicap.
  1. Majestic Dawn
  2. Severance
  3. Kuwait Currency
