Regal pedigree. By supersire Dubwai and is the first progeny of 2014 Oaks and King George winning mare Taghrooda. Has the pedigree to go to the very top and has to be shortlisted.

Camelot colt. Dam wasn't anything special on the track but has produced a handful of winners as a broodmare, including nine-time winner Hatton Flight. Likely to be a stayer in time but yard not renowned for juvenile winners.

Never involved on debut but offered some hope when never-nearer fifth at Kempton (7f) earlier this month. Trip should be fine but looks the type for nurseries.

Horse silk
12/1
Camelot colt. First progeny of mare who won over 1m4f on the track and is closely related to Danehill Dancer. Worth a betting check for powerful connections.

33/1
Nathaniel colt who possesses a speedy enough pedigree. Half-brother to two 7f winners as well as 6f group one winner Pretty Pollyanna. Entitled to claims but trip is a worry.
Nathaniel colt out of a mare who raced only once in France but has had success with her progeny to date, including three-time winners Audacity Of Hope and Earthflight. Not as eye-catching as others in the race so best watched.

Dubawi colt. Reared at the start but plugged on nicely on debut to take fourth at Chelmsford (1m) earlier this month. Trip should be of no issue this time and yard excelling with juvenile debutantes this year.

Horse silk
9/1
Golden Horn colt. Dam won her only start on the track and has produced some useful types, including group one winner Lumiere (6f) and Canadian grade one winner Sheikha Reika. Top pedigree so can't be discounted.

20/1
By 2015 Derby winner Golden Horn. First progeny of mare who only won once on the track but was placed in Listed/Group company plenty of times. Worth a look but likely to be stable's second-string.

3/1
Son of Golden Horn who is steadily progressing with racing and was only headed in the dying strides at Wolverhampton (1m) a month ago. Entitled to come for that and looks a typical improver for his trainer.
Kingman homebred filly who is the first progeny out of Group One winner Madame Chiang, who raced for this yard and connections. Up against the colts in this but should be winning in time.

Horse silk
10/1
Pedigree isn't the most taking and was a lacklustre seventh on debut in 1m novice at this track earlier this month. Plenty of work to find in hot-looking contest.

(8)
Horse silk
8/1
Teofilo filly. Dam was a modest performer in France but has produced two multiple-winning horses for this yard in Thimbleweed and Harebell. Likely to be winning time but faces a tough ask on racecourse debut.

Forecasts

Trumpet Man (3/1), Secret Victory (4/1), Almighwar (9/2), Trefoil (8/1), Solar Screen (9/1), Sly Minx (10/1), King's Castle (12/1), English King (18/1), Oriental Mystique (20/1), St Just (20/1), Nevendon (33/1), Island Nation (100/1), Pillars Of Earth (100/1)

Verdict

A race which has thrown up some top-class horses in it's time, including Cracksman in 2016 who beat Stradivarius in that race, and it may be wise to follow John Gosden's ALMIGHWAR, who has a regal pedigree being out of classic winners and could be one of the yard's late blooming top prospects for next season. Trumpet Man and Secret Victory both looks set to improve once again with their racing and will put up a potent challenge if ridden to their strengths, while Solar Screen could be the dark horse in the race given his taking pedigree too.
  1. Almighwar
  2. Trumpet Man
  3. Secret Victory
