Won over 1½m at the Curragh last month, and arguably unlucky not to follow up when third at Thurles 13 days ago. Stays well, so longer trip no problem, and one to bear in mind.

Fifth in an apprentice handicap at Galway on latest Flat outing, but disappointing over hurdles/fences more recently, and now tried in a visor for the first time.

Won here in May, and fit from hurdles when fifth to El Tren at the Curragh (1½m) last time, shaping better than the result having been held up too far off the pace. Should go close.

Probably flattered by her proximity in a 1½m maiden at Galway last month, and well beaten before an since. Quirky, and high in the weights.

Runner-up in a 1m5f handicap at Leopardstown (good) on penultimate start, and better than the result when seventh of 21 at Navan last time. Claims, although suspicion is that he doesn't want the ground this testing.

Not completely devoid of ability, but she has struggled over hurdles and back on the level this year, and needs some help from the handicapper.

Seemed to relish the step up to 1m3f when landing a 16-runner apprentices event at Limerick last time by ½L from Indian Eye. Needed all of that trip to prevail, and could do better granted this even stiffer test.

Age: 4|  Weight: 9-6| J: Gary Carroll| T: G P Cromwell| OR:  55| CD

Stablemate of Bajan Excell who comes here at the top of her game, winning second handicap of the year over C&D (good/firm) last time. Handles heavy ground when second on penultimate start, and shortlisted again.

Inconsistent maiden, but produced a career-best effort when neck second of 14 to A Few Bob Short in a 1½m handicap at Thurles last time. Every chance if building on promise of that run up in trip.

Beaten a long way on her last few starts at 1½m or further, and the fitting of a hood is scant encouragement to support her here.

Age: 7|  Weight: 9-5| J: W J Lee| T: C Byrnes| OR:  54| BF

Scored over hurdles in August at a modest level, but well held twice on the Flat since, and only of interest if attracting significant support.

Never competitive in three qualifying runs, but showed ability, and should do better as a staying handicapper on pedigree, so merits a market check ahead of handicap bow.

Fairly useful hurdler, but only modest on the level, and yard is struggling for winners, so hard to support after a break since running poorly over fences in August.

Has found his level, and similar form when hitting the frame in soft-ground handicaps between 1m and 1½m on his last three starts. Good claimer booked again, and he should be thereabouts if staying this longer trip.

Binary Code25
Age: 5|  Weight: 8-11| J: Chris Hayes| T: H Rogers| OR:  46

Poor handicapper who struggled to make an impact for various trainers when last seen in this sphere, and merely passed beaten rivals when mid-field over hurdles last month.

No show in maidens, and while he's shown a bit more off basement marks in handicaps, he still has his work cut out in this field unless a hood can elicit some improvement.

Placed in low-grade handicaps on first two turf starts for current yard, and bounced back to form when ½L second of 16 to Bajan Excell in an extended 1m3f apprentice handicap at Limerick last time. Has no more on her plate here.

Not short of ability, but frustrating and disappointing that he's been unable to score off a basement mark given he's been placed in graded hurdles. Place claims nonetheless.

No closer than seventh in four handicap starts, and doesn't seem to have a trip, Visor reached for now, and others much more appealing.

Verdict

Gavin Cromwell has a strong hand in this event. Aasleagh Fawn is rightly feared, but Cromwell's other runner, BAJAN EXCELL promises to improve again for the step up in trip having got off the mark with a grinding victory at Limerick last time. El Tren, Walking On Glass and Indian Eye are others to consider.
  1. Bajan Excell
  2. Walking On Glass
  3. Aasleagh Fawn
