Found a performance from out of the blue to win at Ffos Las last month to open his account for the season; has shaped in good form since then including here over 7f last time. Will benefit from a return to this trip; ought to remain competitive.
Quirky sort who is getting harder and harder to win with (often slowly away); ran creditably when last seen over 1m2f on the AW at Lingfield. Visor remains as the headgear of choice but hard to make a case for him winning even in this grade.
Dual Brighton scorer this year looking well suited by this trip when she's tried it but ran no sort of race at all last time out at Chelmsford (raced wide; never landed a blow). Again posted wide here off a mark she's yet to win off.
Only seen once this year prior to today and very lightly-raced of late overall; struggling for any sort of form. Was useful at his best but hard to make a case for now with a wide draw making life difficult.
Best on tracks that keep him interested like Epsom, Brighton and Lingfield and has a 0-6 record on this more regulation track. Been in good heart for most of his runs this year without winning; on a good mark but record here detracts from his chance.
This will be only her sixth career start so there may be a little more to come and she did catch the eye on her handicap/AW debut at Chelmsford (1m). Returned to the turf last time in testing conditions at Leicester (ran well); one to note in market.
From a top stable but hasn't as yet shown much for the switch to handicaps on the AW, twice being well beaten at Newcastle over 6f/7f. Slow away last time in first-time blinkers (wore cheekpieces previous start); something to prove.
One of the few pace angles in this race he's nicely berthed to take advantage although his career record of 1-22 does rather temper enthusiasm. Placed three times here from six starts his recent record is a mixed one; not one to go overboard about.
Sole Flat career win (1-39) came here over 7f over four years ago off a 15lb higher mark although it's hard to say he well handicapped. Looked in need of the outing on his most start over 1m at Chelmsford, this run should show us more.
Modest handicapper who hasn't won for two years and was last seen off a short break over hurdles at Stratford. Now back on the Flat it's hard to imagine that the race with it's lack of pace will suit him even if he was in form.
Modest at best she's struggled for the most part this year off basement marks in low-grade handicaps running to a poor level when last seen over 1m at Brighton. Poorly drawn here; despite being well below her last winning mark is of little interest.
Poor maiden (0-13) who will be doing well to improve those career figures even in a low-grade handicap such as this. Well beaten over 1m2f at Chelmsford last time she's essentially one to leave alone with others appealing far more.

N Over J (5/2), Mabo (9/2), A Hundred Echoes (9/2), Red Cossack (5/1), Gerry The Glover (7/1), Caledonia Laird (8/1), Heatherdown (11/1), Duke Of North (16/1), Cheerful (16/1), Captain Marmalade (25/1), Harlequin Rose (50/1), Moon Artist (66/1), Ramblow (66/1), Dr Julius No (66/1)
Hopefully the second division of this poor quality handicap will hold more interest as it’s hard to make a case for the majority of these in what could be a messy race due to the lack of pace. MABO comes into this with the strongest form having run well enough in a similar contest here last time over 7f, the step back to 1m should help him a great deal. Caledonia Laird would be of more interest were this race at his preferred venue of Wolverhampton but he should still be in the mix with likely pace setter N Over J well positioned to lead. The biggest danger looks to be 3yo Cheerful she gained attention on her sole Polytrack start and has the scope to do better in the future.
- Mabo
- Cheerful
- Caledonia Laird
