Hugely popular veteran who remarkably won two of his last three starts, both at this track, last winter. Returns from long lay-off so likely to be better for the pipe-opener although has gone well fresh in past. A credit to connections..

Run well enough when third in two of his last three starts for new yard and wasn't disgraced in past on two previous efforts on this surface. Eased 1lb since third at Newcastle last month and should be in the mix.

Nine-race maiden but has finished third in three of his last four starts and is running well enough. Tackles this surface for the first time for yard with 17% strike rate at this track with similar types.

Showed a little promise in four starts for Owen Burrows prior to joining current yard in August. Failed to respond to first-time blinkers when tailed off at Kempton on first run for new connections who now reach for first-time cheekpieces.

Well bred daughter of Australia but she's been disappointing to date and finished last of 12 recently on her handicap bow over 10f at Chelmsford. Better chance returned to this trip but still has quite a bit to prove.

Last win came over C&D in December and was fair third here in April off 2lb higher mark. Better for recent pipe-opener and may not be far away if that has blown the cobwebs away.

Landed his second C&D win when getting up close home to score by a neck here recenlty off 3lb lower mark. Another bold show looks on the cards with same jockey booked again.

Both previous wins came over C&D last winter for the late Kenneth Slack. Weakened 2 out here last time on first start for 12 weeks. May be fitter now but a little more is needed to score.

No stamina issues having won over 1m1f at Musselburgh in May. Gone close a few times since without hitting the target and might be a player if he handles this surface. First-time cheekpieces now added.

Won Wolverhampton 7f h'cap last term on final start for Michael Bell. Yet to score in nine attempts for current handler over further and drop back in trip may help his cause. Worth a market check. in first-time blinkers.

Captain Peakyb1100
Age: 6|  Weight: 8-9| J: Andrew Breslin(5)| T: L Bailey| OR:  45
50/1
29-race maiden who is effective at around a mile but clearly has issues when it comes to getting his head in front. Never sighted on lats start at Hamilton in July. Drops back in trip and hopes rest on first-time blinkers sparking big improvement.

Forecasts

Move In Faster (5/2), Atalanta Queen (4/1), Global Exceed (11/2), Jazz Hands (10/1), Molten Lava (12/1), Almokhtaar (14/1), Harbour City (14/1), Port Soif (14/1), Heatherdown (16/1), Alpha Tauri (22/1), Captain Peaky (50/1)

Verdict

An open contest but MOLTEN LAVA may just come out on top as he goes well here and will strip fitter for a recent first run back following a break. Global Exceed could give the selection most to do and has run well here in the past, and Atalanta Queen may make a bold bid to follow up her recnt C&D victory. Jazz Hands and Harbour City are among a number of others who could well be on the premises.
  1. Molten Lava
  2. Global Exceed
  3. Atalanta Queen
