Five-race maiden; twice placed on turf (1m1f) for Roger Varian; joined Ivan Furtado for 25,000gns in November 2018, and returns to action off a 423-day absence; monitoring brief advised at this stage.

Sole win (in 17 starts) came over this trip at Beverley (good to firm) in the summer of 2018; runner-up on three occasions since, including when beaten ¾L by Ascot Week at Ripon (1m, good to firm) in July; AW debut.

18/1
6L winner of the Zetland Gold Cup at Redcar (off a mark of 90) in 2017; as a dual C&D winner has the ability to put these rivals to the sword on his day, albeit bitterly disappointing since winning at Haydock (1m2f, good to firm) in May.

Beaten just over 1L when runner-up to Autretot over C&D in June (now 2lb higher); struck at odds of 20-1 at Thirsk (1m4f, good to soft) in July, and a poor run at Haydock latest is perfectly excusable (very testing heavy ground).

Comfortable winner at Musselburgh (1m1f, soft) in August, albeit that was his first success since late 2017; blew his chance of following up by racing keenly at Hamilton (penultimate); folded tamely at Musselburgh (1m, soft) on Tuesday.

Made all when winning a 1m2f Sandown maiden (good to firm) for John Gosden in June 2018; left that trainer for 15,000gns in October 2018; well beaten on all four starts this year for Tracy Waggott, easing 16lb in the handicap.

13/2
A reliable horse (turf or AW); 5lb higher than when beating Optima Petamus by ¾L over C&D in June; ran well here (fourth) last month despite not quite seeing out the 1m4f trip; pleasing second at his beloved Hamilton (1m1f, soft) since; fair chance.

French import (formerly with E J O'Neill); finished a distant third to Junooh on debut for Mark Johnston in a 1m2f Beverley novice (soft); could prove suited by switching to the AW (Scat Daddy) at a more realistic level; handicap debut.

Beaten a neck by Home Before Dusk over C&D in August; rock-solid since, including in the Leger Legends race at Doncaster; in there pitching at the furlong pole (despite enduring a wide track) at Chelmsford (1m2f) a fortnight ago; of some interest.

Strong on the Fibresand at Southwell; was recording his third win at that Nottinghamshire venue when running down the reliable Loose Chippings over 1m4f a fortnight ago; 4lb higher for his first ever visit to Gosforth Park; one for the shortlist.

Age: 3|  Weight: 9-3| J: Barry McHugh| T: J G Given| OR:  68| D

A Nottingham regular (form figures there read 32162); evidently is suited by some cut underfoot; weakened from the two furlong pole after making most of the running at Chester (1m2½f, soft) latest; 2lb lower for the AW switch (0-1 previously).

Hasn't raced on the AW since finishing 13th of 14 over 1m here in June 2018; enjoyed a productive season on turf with four wins between 1m1f-1m2f (Beverley x2, Carlisle and Hamilton); 2lb above his last winning mark; stablemate of Kilbaha Lady.

Driven out when winning a small field affair at Doncaster (1m2f, good to firm) in July; has remained in decent form since, including when finishing 1¼L third to Skerryvore over C&D (penultimate); place claims at least from a 1lb higher mark.

Forecasts

Kilbaha Lady (4/1), Kannapolis (5/1), Pioneering (6/1), Granite City Doc (13/2), Debbonair (17/2), Cold Harbour (10/1), Zane Daddy (11/1), Gift Of Raaj (12/1), Briardale (18/1), Cuban Sun (25/1), Trinity Star (33/1), Dutch Coed (33/1), Sands Chorus (33/1), Jamih (80/1)

Verdict

Cold Harbour was a winner for Robyn Brisland at Southwell a fortnight ago and whilst it's somewhat surprising that he switches to Gosforth Park seeking a follow up, he's much respected from a 4lb higher mark. Debbonair continues to run well for Hugo Palmer and has the added benefit of having Andrea Atzeni aboard, while the reliable Granite City Doc also enters the reckoning for Lucy Normille over his optimum trip of 1m2f. However, the standout pick is the Nigel Tinkler-trained KILBAHA LADY. Her regular rider Rowan Scott switches to stablemate Dutch Coed on this occasion, but that's considered helpful with Faye McManoman removing a further 2lb (claims 5lb).
  1. Kilbaha Lady
  2. Cold Harbour
  3. Granite City Doc
