Winning for the sixth time when successful in a heavy-ground 5f handicap at Musselburgh in August. Below form twice since, and although he's run well on Tapeta in the past, he's not won on AW and has never tackled Fibresand.
Has been out of sorts for some time, although did hint at a revival when 2¾L sixth of 11 to Crosse Fire over C&D last time. More needed to capitalise on a falling mark, but he's twice a winner here, and well handicapped if building on that effort.
Has won three from ten over C&D and out of the places just once. Back to her best when just failing to hold Crosse Fire here on her latest start. and should make another good fist of things now.
Placed at Beverley in July, but below form in three starts since, and hard to make a strong case for him trying Fibresand for the first time.
Has won three times over C&D, but recent form here is rather patchy, and he was soon detached after a slow start here in the race won by Crosse Fire last time.
Runner-up over 6f here in February, but she has been thrashed in three subsequent races, and even a return to her best would not be certain to see her in the frame in such a competitive race.
Much his best effort when runner-up at Beverley in May, and had wind surgery before latest third in a weak Newcastle novice. Entitled to do better, but has a bit to prove making Fibresand debut.
Has won three times here, but those victories have come over 6f, and nature of races over this straight 5f is very different. Hood added to usual blinkers, and hard to predict how he'll fare given trip and headgear changes.
Had plenty of racing, but thriving now, and has won two of his last four starts at Goodwood and Chelmsford over 5f. Climbing the weights, but still well treated on old form, and has a good record here, including two C&D wins in the spring.
Now 4lb higher than when winning over C&D in May, and while he has claims on that form, he refused to race on his penultimate start, and was well beaten back here last time.
Capable on last year's form when third in a C&D handicap off an 11lb higher mark. Runner-up over 6f here in August, and filled the same spot at Brighton next time, but ran poorly at Beverley on his latest start, and needs to bounce back.
Won a weak C&D handicap in August 2017, but well held on only subsequent run here. Back to form when runner-up on her last two turf starts, travelling best, and has a chance if replicating that form here.
Forecasts
Tan (7/2), Mininggold (5/1), Red Stripes (5/1), Red Pike (8/1), Sandridge Lad (9/1), First Excel (10/1), Kyllachy Warrior (12/1), Lydiate Lady (12/1), Samovar (14/1), Billy Dylan (18/1), Red Invader (50/1), Granny Roz (66/1)
MININGGOLD has a solid course record, and was getting back to the winner when beaten in a photo here last time,. She can go one better at the expense of the in-form Red Stripes, while Sandridge Lad hinted at a revival in Mininggold's race last time, and could go well at a price having fallen below his last winning mark over track and trip.
- Mininggold
- Red Stripes
- Sandridge Lad
