C&D winner in the past who had been a little bit below par this season before a decent fifth in a higher grade at Ripon (1m) last time. Has been capable of this mark before so not entirely discounted.

Last win came back in 2017 and was last of six in 1m Doncaster handicap when last seen. Hard to fancy on that effort and unpredictable these days.

Excels over this C&D, winning four times and looked in need of the run when eighth at Redcar (1m) 22 days ago. Chance if bouncing back to his best at a track he thrives on.

Best form this season came when second at Ripon two starts ago but never a factor when down the field at York (1m2f) last time. Back in trip but bounce back required.

Had looked to be coming back to himself at Haydock two starts ago and bettered that by winning 1m Musselburgh handicap last time. 4lb higher for this but must be respected.

Unreliable sort. Last win came at Ayr in September but disappointed when fancied to go well at that track (7f) last time. Chance he could put up good effort but hard to rely on.

Was highly fancied to go well at Chelmsford last time out but was badly hampered and fell when beginning to mount a challenge two furlongs out. Leading contender if none the worse for that.

AW winner in the past and ran modestly on comeback effort after long absence at Goodwood (1m1f) two weeks ago. Entitled to strip fitter but place claims only on best form.

Losing streak currently stands at 18 and no signs of that changing when eighth in 7f Chester handicap 11 days ago. Best watched on current form.

Last win came at Sandown in July and was outpaced at a crucial stage when third at that track (1m) last time out. Makes tapeta debut and could have more to come if behaving prior to the race.

Inconsistent sort now and raced too freely when last of eight in Redcar handicap (7f) last month. Dropped 2lb by the handicapper but improvement is required.

Course winner in the past but proven to be hard to catch this season and was poor eighth in 1m Ayr handicap when last seen. Tough ask off higher AW mark too.

Notched two wins in a row at Kempton in August but progression seemingly peaked when only fourth of seven at Wolverhampton (7f) 18 days ago. Career-best is required.

Not at her best at the moment but kept on nicely when fourth of 10 in 1m Thirsk handicap last month. May be coming to herself so may have a place chance.

Forecasts

Glengarry (5/1), Fennaan (11/2), Eligible (13/2), Alnadir (13/2), Helovaplan (9/1), Image Of The Moon (12/1), Rey Loopy (12/1), Tangled (14/1), Mardle (16/1), Brother McGonagall (16/1), Keswick (22/1), Banksea (28/1), Florenza (33/1), Saisons D'Or (40/1)

Verdict

BROTHER MCGONAGALL has seemingly come back to his very best recently and his latest win at Musselburgh was all the more impressive due to defying the draw bias. He has run well off his current mark previously and faces some rivals who need a revival. Alnadir is dangerously poised as his main rival on his recent form, but the fall he took at Chelmsford was heavy and may have left a mark, while the likes of Helovaplan and Rey Loopy perform well at this track, but require bounce backs if they are to land a blow.
  1. Brother McGonagall
  2. Alnadir
  3. Rey Loopy
