Dual course (6f) winner who stepped up on his previous form with an emphatic victory (first run since gelded) at Chelmsford (6f) last time. Finished very strongly and looked ready for this first try at 7f; could have more to come, well drawn.

Only win so far came on the AW at Chelmsford and he returned to form there last time (first-time cheekpieces; retained here). Has some reasonable races all season but does look to have trouble getting the job done in handicaps off these marks.

Winner at Ayr last time a performance that had been coming but cajoled along by a return to running in a visor and better underfoot conditions. Made all and well positioned to try such tactics again but does have a 6lb weight rise to cope with.

Yet to run on the AW this decent turf performer arrives in fair form and is edging down the weights if he can adapt to this surface. Spoilt his chance slightly the last twice by running freely so a soundly run race would be ideal for him.

Worthy of some respect as he is five-time course winner including over C&D but he failed to come on for a recent run when left behind over 6f at Chelmsford last time. Has something to prove despite his previous course exploits.

C&D winner from a yard that are in decent form who wasn't seen to best effect last time when hampered at Chelmsford (7f), finished with running left. A shade unfortunate the time before over C&D (closed down winner late on); banker for shortlist.

Returns after a lengthy absence for a new yard having shown some fair form last year for his previous yard. 4-12 on the AW he has in the past run well (placed) off lengthy breaks; likes to lead; well berthed to make a bold bid if tuned up.

Despite wining over C&D three times he does come here with a long losing streak to cope with; form this year is no more than fair. Third at Redcar (6f, good) last time was sound enough, would need to improve on that to make an impression.

Got his season off to a good start with two turf wins at up to 1m but he's since disappointed twice in handicaps off slightly higher marks (something to prove now). Failed to see out his race last time, cheekpieces now tried for the first-time.

C&D winner in August showing improved form (well positioned in a steadily run affair) off a 3lb lower mark. Not anywhere near the same form last time in a better contest when upped 4lb; not well drawn and needs to bounce back.

Completed a spring hat-trick with the start of that winning spree coming here over 1m; appears to have lost his way since including when returned here over 1m. Beat only one home at Newmarket last time; runs off lower AW mark, others more persuasive.

Twice a winner this year with his latest success coming over C&D (showed a good turn of foot). Two runs since have shown him still to be in good form (struggled to get involved from off the pace last time); worth a close look (race run to suit).

Returned to form on just his second start for this yard without his usual headgear back on the AW over 6f at Chelmsford. Effective at 7f it remains to be seen if this in-and-out character can build on that; wide draw doesn't help.

Forecasts

Intuitive (13/8), Gentle Look (11/2), Markazi (13/2), Diocles Of Rome (7/1), Jaleel (8/1), Turn 'n Twirl (12/1), Kimifive (16/1), Gossiping (16/1), Jack's Point (33/1), Nick Vedder (40/1), Exchequer (50/1), Eljaddaaf (66/1), Easy Tiger (66/1)

Verdict

Plenty of useful sorts in this competitive handicap with the claims of Intuitive hard to get away from after he won in impressive fashion at Chelmsford last time although he does have to prove himself over this 7f trip. Markazi is another who won well last time out although the 6lb rise may well anchor him this time around and he may not have such an easy time of event up front this time. Jaleel should have this run to suit and this C&D winner looks one of the main dangers to what is hoped to be a value selection in DIOCLES OF ROME who has looked rather unfortunate in his last two AW starts, catching the eye at Chelmsford last time.
  1. Diocles Of Rome
  2. Intuitive
  3. Jaleel
