Handicap newcomer who gained his first victory at the third attempt over 7f on the AW last time (improved form; stayed on well). Form of the Kempton race isn't strong (odds-on favourite disappointed); mark looks lofty enough on the evidence so far.

Consistent handicap type but can hardly be said to be progressing having just one win in this sphere to his name. Still 7lb above his last winning mark he comes here off the back of a poor rare poor effort; tongue-tie goes on for first-time.

Dropped to this trip last time she resumed winning ways at Salisbury (Quarry Beach, second, beaten 3L). That doubled her career tally although her profile has a rather uneven look in between those two wins; faces a harsh 8lb rise for last win.

Kempton winner on his seasonal debut (7f) he's been reliable rather than progressive since failing to score again in seven starts. Comes here on the back of a rare below-par performance; doesn't have much in hand of the assessor, others appeal more.

Still a maiden after 10 starts he finally makes his handicap debt having filled the runner-up slot in his last five races. Unsurprisingly he's not looked the most straightforward sort; a run on a more conventional track may see him in a better light.

Maiden handicapper; filled the frame on four of her five starts this year giving best to Song Of The Isles by 3L (penultimate start), much better off at the weights now. Ran another sound race last time; handicapper looks to have her right.

Plenty to prove on the evidence of his two starts this year separated by a three-month break having shown only fair form as a 2yo. Well held over 1m on the AW last time (took a strong hold); has been tried in headgear, far from a leading player.

0-10 so far with five handicap defeats; now features off a career-low mark stepping down to 7f for the first time in this sphere. Confirmed she was in form at Ffos Las last time over 1m (well positioned); cheekpieces now on first-time.

Still to win a race but has looked capable of doing so on more than one occasion this season; threatens to come good soon. Travelled better than most over 1m at Kempton last time (given plenty to do); well handicapped, may need a strong gallop at 7f.

Forecasts

Majestic Mac (3/1), Voltaic (11/2), Ifton (6/1), Bear Force One (13/2), Quarry Beach (13/2), Oloroso (7/1), Song of The Isles (8/1), Society Guest (12/1), Sunvisor (33/1)

Verdict

A workaday handicap to round off the card with just two handicap newcomers in Bear Force One and Voltaic neither of which look to be thrown off their opening marks. Song Of The Isles and Quarry Beach are old rivals although the former of that duo was a surprise 16-1 winner the last time they met and also has to cope with a rather hefty 8lb rise for that 3L win. Society Guest deserves to go close in a race such as this and she can’t be ignored with the first-time headgear hopefully providing some further assistance. IFTON is the suggestion in the hope that a race falls his way for a stable having a rare runner at the track; he may well need a strong gallop but holds more interest than most.
  1. Ifton
  2. Society Guest
  3. Song of The Isles
