Good effort in third last month at Yarmouth (5f, good to firm) on first run for this trainer. On a winnable mark reverting to AW and going back up in trip. Can be in the mix.

Gained second win of his career (2-17) over this trip at Chelmsford in July, picking off Tarseekh late on. 1-1 under Oisin Murphy after that and worth a close look now.

Runner-up on soft ground over this trip at Lingfield in July, an effort mostly at odds with his for in 10-race career. Poor showing last month at Chepstow to be forgotten now.

11-race maiden, twice gone close over this C&D in the spring and runner-up last month at Wolverhampton. Competitive last time on turf, 1lb lower here starting out for new trainer. Shortlisted.

Eight-race maiden whose best form came over a mile here in September 2017. Has a 654-day absence to defy no first start for new trainer but handicap mark could be lenient if betting suggests confidence.

Yet to win on AW surfaces (0-8) but twice went close at Lingfield over a mile in early summer from lower marks. Some decent turf efforts since, cannot be rejected out of hand back in this sphere.

Badly hampered on last month's handicap bow at Lingfield over 7f, ensuring she was pulled up some 4f from home. Watch in betting, has time to improve.

Promising fifth in a 6f handicap at Redcar (good to firm) when debuting for this stable last month, though didn't replicate that since at Lingfield (7f, good to firm). Capable sort when in the right mood and goes best on AW, worth noting here.

Runner-up in a 6f Kempton nursery last August remains her standout piece of form so far. Two tame efforts so far in 2019 and can only be watched at the moment.

Daughter of Charm Spirit has been readily dismissed in all five starts so far, beating very few rivals home. She's hard to make a case for without seeing some on-track positives.

Doesn't win often (2-30) and out of luck since scoring at Chelmsford over a mile in March 2018. Races from 8lb lower now but not much in way of encouragement lately.

10-time winner but out of form in recent starts. Well handicapped as a result and market support would be notable off a mark 8lb lower than when winning over 6f on the AW at Wolverhampton in January.

Good runs over 6f last month at Chelmsford and Newcastle from higher marks, not as good since on turf but cannot be crossed off readily back on AW in this sort of contest.

Brigand (7/4), Tarseekh (7/2), Independence Day (11/2), Tavener (7/1), Kafoo (7/1), Cauthen (9/1), Master Poet (12/1), Arctic Flower (12/1), Prince of Time (20/1), Masai Spirit (25/1), Roca Magica (33/1), Caesonia (33/1), Indian Affair (40/1), True Colors (40/1)

Verdict

The front-running Tarseekh was run down late by Brigand when they clashed at Chelmsford in July. The former remains in good heart but Oisin Murphy's mount may again hold sway in their battle. Cauthen has C&D form and is worth a second look on debut for new trainer while Prince of Time also commands some interest returning to the all-weather. TAVENER too is back in this sphere after some solid turf efforts. He tends to do best in this environment and is now 8lb below last winning mark, enough to earn a tentative vote in the finale.
