Smart performer who was second in this race last year. Winner of Cork Listed contest and valuable Curragh handicap in July but has been well-beaten by Battaash the last twice. Respected back in this company but has a penalty.

Failed to win this season so far but was second in similar contest at York in July. Has regressed lately and recent third in 5f Southwell handicap suggests more is required at this level.

Admirable veteran. Has generally found life tough in handicap company this season but bounced back to form with second in 5f Epsom handicap last time. Could be vulnerable to younger rivals though.

Has failed to hit heights given lofty reputation and didn't take obvious chance to strike at pattern level with 7L sixth in Curragh Group 2 (5f). Cant be discounted to bounce back and has been knocking on the door at this level.

Impressive winner of Ascot handicap two starts ago and wasn't disgraced when enduring a rough passage in the Beverley Bullet (5f) on latest start. All wins have come with firm in the description and looks tailor made for this. Leading player.

Listed winner who lost unbeaten record last time out when 8L ninth in York Group 3 (6f) in July. Not seen since but winner of that race has gone on to strike at a higher level and of interest if bouncing back.

Queens Giftp11

8/1
Dual winner over C&D and at Ripon during the summer and arguably ran career-best with fast-finishing second in the Beverley Bullet (5f) last time. More improvement likely and could take another step up.

Verdict

TIS MARVELLOUS has been resurgent this season and looks a pattern performer in the making once again despite losing last time out. He was hampered that day and on a more open track, his blistering turn of foot could give him the measure of his rivals. Queens Gift also came out of her last race with her reputation intact and could be dangerous given she receives weight all round, while the likes of Equilateral and El Astronaute run well in this company but haven't been hitting the mark recently.
  1. Tis Marvellous
  2. Queens Gift
  3. El Astronaute
