Runner-up here over 1m4f in July and since scored back-to-back turf wins at Bath and Chepstow over 2m1f/2m. On a fair mark returned to this surface and still got scope for better over staying trips.
Declaration Of War filly with three turf wins last summer at up to 1m6f. Has proven stamina for this trip, though form this year less encouraging. Needs to perk up in first-time blinkers.
Dual Chelmsford winner at around 1m6f, has been in good form recently finishing second previous two starts; including over 1m6f here last month behind thriving rival. Can get involved.
Both career wins have come over two miles at Chelmsford, has been more miss than hit away from that venue so far and has to find more from this mark in any case.
Hat-trick earlier in the year culminated with gutsy Southwell AW success over extended 2m off a mark of 72. Good second at Pontefract (2m1f, good) last time out and stable in fine fettle now.
Nine-year-old son of Dylan Thomas, conceded weight and fended off rivals to win over 2m2f at Chepstow (good) 18 days ago. Front pair well clear and while this is tougher, not badly treated on old form. Worth a look.
French import, modest form only so far for this trainer, going closest here over 1m4f in May. Others appear better equipped.
Has finished second in his last two at Chepstow, over 2m behind Jumping Cats and then over 2m2f behind Arty Campbell after a sustained duel (front two clear). Has good record on AW, so worth a chance in current mood.
Forecasts
Charlie D (13/8), Champarisi (9/2), Houlton (9/2), Jumping Cats (11/2), Trouble And Strife (8/1), Norab (16/1), Arty Campbell (20/1), Joycetick (25/1)
NORAB has finished second behind Jumping Cats and Arty Campbell in his last two starts on turf. The eight-year-old is still on a very workable mark here relative to his best form and he's been out of the money just once in four previous runs on all-weather surfaces, so he might just be worth siding with now. Champarisi and Charlie D both arrive here in excellent heart and are much-respected in this wide open stayers' event.
- Norab
- Charlie D
- Champarisi
