Suited by testing ground, and built on a good second over 5f here by winning well over that trip here next time. Excuses at York next time, and every chance she could bounce back.

Scored twice in the spring and has run well in defeat since, but ran as if feeling the effects of a busy campaign when well beaten at Ripon last time, and needs to shake that off after a short break.

Back to his best in the summer, winning at Pontefract in July and running just as well when runner-up there on penultimate start. Goes best for this claimer, so easy enough to forgive a poor effort under different handling last month.

Won twice over 6f in headgear last year for Johnny Levins, and has shaped with promise in both outings for her new yard, most recently at Catterick four days ago. Laid out for an autumn campaign, and merits a place on the shortlist here.

Running well without hitting the mark this year, and again wasn't best placed when fifth of 19 to Growl at Ripon last time. Wouldn't need much more to make a breakthrough based on his best efforts.

Has two ways of running, but wins in his turn, and right back to form when ½L second of 10 to Holmeswood at Musselburgh last time. Seemingly benefited from refitting of blinkers there, and claims with headgear retained.

Hasn't fired in four runs this season, and took a big step backward at Pontefract last time. Possible that he will bounce back in first-time blinkers, but clearly risky.

Connections kept the faith with this well-bred gelding after he missed 2018, and he repaid that faith with an improved effort to win at Yarmouth last month. Needs to do more to follow up on handicap bow, but this unexposed sort coul ddo just that.

Finished second at Ayr in June from a 3lb higher mark, but he's failed to repeat that form in several subsequent starts, and others bring stronger form to the table.

Knocking at the door prior to winning 16-runner (grey horse) handicap at Newmarket last time. Now 5lb higher and with horses of all hues in opposition, but should still have a part to play.

Pulled up no trees on first few starts this year, and can start slowly and/or race freely, but improved markedly on those efforts when ½L third of 13 to Valley of Fire at Redcar last time. Claims if building on latest encouraging effort.

Verdict

Society Prince has much more on his plate than when a narrow winner in novice company at Yarmouth, but he's almost certain to improve, so needs to go on the shortlist, as does Newmarket winner Case Key and topweight Captain Jameson, who is back to his last winning mark. A chance is taken, however, on LUCKY BEGGAR, who has a fine record here, and could be allowed to go off at a value price after lesser efforts elsewhere.
  1. Lucky Beggar
  2. Case Key
  3. Captain Jameson
