Latest Newmarket effort easily forgiven (lost action) and was impressive when winning his qualifier for this back in July, travelling well and quickening away for an impressive success. Handicapper asking for more but may yet have it in the locker.

Has plenty of C&D experience, twice a winner here and won a shade cosliy last time he raced on the surface. Not quite so good on last two starts but return to this surface could spark a revival.

Highly tried over the last 12 months on a few occasions and took advantage of his reduced handicap mark when a ready winner over C&D last time out. 7lb rise still leaves him looking nicely treated, not badly drawn and has chances here.

Won his qualifier for this just four days ago, appreciating the drop in trip and battling on well for a ½l win. Penalty to carry for that but a surprise if we've seen the best of him, and just another to consider in a wide open event.

Just 1lb higher than last win, that coming at Epsom back in May (was third leg of a hat-trick), not so good last two but has bounced back from below par efforts before and looks on a fair mark if he can.

Won his qualifier for this back in February, and it was off this mark, so no qualms about him from a handicapping point of view, but three efforts this summer have been lacking and he has ground to make up with one or two of these.

Winner over 10f at Chelmsford in May and has run consistently well since then, not beaten far behind Kuwait Currency over C&D last time and probably has more improvement to come. Solid pace will help his chance.

Last win came at Wolverhampton in November of last year, tried over varying trips since then but appears happiest at a mile. Only 2l behind Kuwait Currency over C&D last time out but may not be as progressive as a few of these.

Consistent and runs his race more often than not, but as a result the handicapper probably has him where he wants him. Likes to front run and could get his own way up front, but that alone may not be enough.

A regular over this C&D, twice a winner here and rarely out of the frame but another who has no secrets from the handicapper and looks pretty much weighted to the hilt. Will try hard but needs a bit more improvement from somewhere.

Has been rattling off the wins this season, latest of her four this year coming at Haydock in July. Trip fine but now some 15lb higher than her close third here back in March, which means she needs another step forward today.

Forecasts

Kasbaan (11/4), Motawaj (4/1), Kuwait Currency (5/1), Gossiping (13/2), Freerolling (9/1), King's Slipper (9/1), Mayfair Spirit (16/1), Felix The Poet (16/1), Family Fortunes (22/1), Arigato (25/1), Directory (33/1)

Verdict

This will be run at a good pace, with Arigato, Felix The Poet and Directory all wanting to get on with it early, and it could be set up for a finisher. KASBAAN was happy to sit behind the leaders when successful here earlier in the week and connections may well try similar tactics today. It'll be a surprise if we've seen the best of him and Mick Appleby is excellent at getting the best out of these cast-offs from other yards. Motawaj has the weight to carry but knows how to win and will also get this run to suit. Watch for Freerolling coming with a late effort as well.
