Latest effort at Deauville on heavy ground best forgiven (although not disgraced), possibly better judged on her May Newmarket win and last year's efforts, which see her in a better light. Stays this trip, and could bounce back today.

Quality performer, multiple Group 1 winner abroad last year and his defeat of Defoe at Baden-Baden is top-drawer form. Not seen out since last November however, so possible there have been hold-ups. On form though, the clear pick.

Solid effort to finish fourth behind Tamreer on latest start, and god chance of reversing the form at today's weights. Finding form after a long absence and may even improve a little. Easy C&D winner back in 2017, so conditions fine too.

C&D winner last September, so has that under his belt, form this year not so good however, and he's not been seen out since finishing well beaten in the Northumberland Plate. Hopes pinned on a return to a venue he clearly enjoys (2-2 here).

Twice a winner in Meydan in the spring (including a defeat of Ebor runner-up Red Galileo), llooking a useful prospect for this year but he's not gone on from that, although latest effort in a Goodwood handicap was better. Has to refind best form.

Not disgraced when tried in a G1 at Arlington on latest start but better judged on win in valuable York handicap previously, which looks solid. Needs more again here, and trip something of an unknown, but has track experience and hard to discount.

Stays well but effective at this sort of trip, and hard to knock his fifth in the Ebor on his latest start. May be finding his feet this year now, and he does have a C&D win to his name, so there are positives to take. Each-way chances here.

Finished last season with a flourish, easy winner of two quality handicaps but not seen out until July of this year when a solid fourth to Elarqam at Sandown. Can go well fresh so absence since them not an issue, and he may have a bit more to come.

Winning run came to and end in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood last time but she was far from disgraced in finishing fourth. Had looked progressive before that and well worth another try at 12f now.

Progressed throughout last year and was an excellent third in the Juddmonte to Roaring Lion, Has been set some tough tasks again this term and will undoubtedly find this easier, but he's not firing on all cylinders this year.

Listed winner at Lingfield last year (over 1m) but form this year not up to that and she seems to have rather lost her way. This trip an unknown as well and there are more likely winners in the field.

Improving filly that caused a bit of a surprise when winning a valuable York handicap on her latest start, but there was no fluke about it and the step up to 12f seems to have suited her well. Needs a lot more here, but is going the right way.

Forecasts

Best Solution (13/8), Royal Line (6/1), Mootasadir (7/1), Gibbs Hill (8/1), Prince Of Arran (9/1), Sun Maiden (10/1), Mountain Hunter (14/1), Pivoine (20/1), Thundering Blue (20/1), Worth Waiting (33/1), Tamreer (40/1), Rasima (100/1)

Verdict

Best Solution would be the one to beat on the best of his form, but the fact he's starting his season out so late might not totally be by design. He's up against some useful competition regardless, and maybe GIBBS HILL can come out on top. He himself has come back from a long absence this year but gave notice he was finding his form with a staying-on fourth to Tamreer at York. At today's weights he can be expected to turn that form around, and with no issue with the surface, he can take another step forward. Thundering Blue faces an easier task and can't be ruled out, Royal Line may have more to come and Mootasadir could bounce back too.
