Yard 13-47 with 2yo's this year (3-19, newcomers); €60,000 yearling, second foal, half-brother to 1m4f winner Blame The Ruler. Dam lightly-raced half-sister to smart 1m-1m2f winner Desert Fire.

Newcomer; half-brother to 7f (including as 2yo) winner Richard Pankhurst; winner up to 1m Crazy Horse (2yo 7f winner), both smart: dam 1m winner. Yard 6-12 with 2yo AW runners this year (12-52 overall); looks best of those making their debut.

Gleneagles gelding (half-sister to very smart winner up to 1m4f Leadership); showed very little on his debut at York (7f, firm). Finished last of the 14 runners, dropped away from 3f out; needs to make major strides forward.

Looks one for the longer term having never been involved on his debut (Doncaster, 7f, good) last month; beaten 15L. Half-brother to winner up to 1m Bandola (2yo 6f/7f winner); dam, 1m4f-1m6f winner who stayed 2m.

One of two runners from the yard (other is a debutant); went backwards from his debut, now makes his debut on AW up to 1m for the first time. Looks one of the lesser lights in this, may be one for nurseries once he has a mark.

Price rose significantly at the Breeze-Up Sales (£95,000); looked in need of his debut though over 6f at Newmarket in June (yard not known for debut 2yo winners). Quite possible he could do better here, up in trip and onto the AW.

Newcomer whose price rose by €25,000 from foal to yearling; first foal, dam, unraced, closely related to smart winner up to 1m4f (stayed 1m6f) Flying Cross. Yard 4-24 with debutants this year, market support would be of interest.

9/1
Bred for stamina; half-brother to a couple of smart staying types who showed ability on his 7f Ffos Las debut when finishing in mid-division. Not disgraced and looks certain to be suited by this step up to 1m and further in the future.

Showed ability on his debut (half-brother to 5f 2yo winner Well Done and useful (for this yard) 2yo 6f winner Fighting Irish) over 7f at Sandown. Better than the distance he was beaten last time over the same trip at Salisbury; more to come in time.

Showed improved form from first to second run (bred to be useful), well suited by the increase in trip (up to 1m) last time at Doncaster (soft surface). Now steps onto the AW for the first time; open to plenty more improvement, leading candidate.

Forecasts

Stars In The Sky (11/10), Byzantine Empire (3/1), Gold Desert (7/1), Vulcan (9/1), Tafish (9/1), Acquitted (10/1), Cabot Cliffs (14/1), Stanford (33/1), Looktothelight (50/1), Jack Ruby (50/1), Duke Of Condicote (80/1)

Verdict

If there is one in the field as good as the 2017 winner Roaring Lion (sadly no longer with us) we will be doing well here as that one went on to win four Group 1 contests. The only filly in the field STARS IN THE SKY looks on an upward curve having run well on her debut and improved on that performance last time; she can show the boys the way home. Of the males that have run both Tafish and Vulcan looks as though they are capable of making progress but the dangers may lie amongst those who are yet to race with John Gosden’s Byzantine Empire making the most appeal especially as the trainer is 2-3 (121) with his 2yo Kempton newcomers this year.
