Impressive when winning a 20-runner handicap over C&D on his return, and he's been running with credit on turf of late, albeit looking in the grip of the handicapper. Booking of leading 5lb claimer bring him into the equation.
Good second over 1¼m here on second start this season, and filled same spot over 1m at Newbury next time. Comes here having run poorly at York last month, but not hard to forgive that effort in isolation.
Convincing winner on debut at Kempton in March, but was beaten at long odds-on at Wolverhampton and flopped in Listed company at Newcastle. Remains with potential, though, and may well have benefited from a break since April. Market useful.
Not seen since a poor effort at Meydan in February (visored in a Listed race), but won all three starts here as a juvenile, and showed enough on turf in Dubai to think he's of equal merit on this surface. Cheekpieces refitted now and not dismissed.
Looked a hard ride when well held at Thirsk last time, so hard to back with confidence, but shaped quite well when tenth in the Britannia Stakes over C&D in June, and is facing an easier task than of late, so not a shock to see him bounce back.
Ran very well to be placed twice at Glorious Goodwood over 1m/7f, but beaten at short odds at Brighton and then failed to beat a rival at York last time. Needs to bounce back.
Forecasts
Wafy (15/8), Enigmatic (3/1), Tulfarris (11/2), Warning Fire (13/2), Trolius (7/1), Ebury (15/2)
An impossible race with most of the field below form for a variety of reasons on their most recent starts, so perhaps the safest bet is the consistent C&D winner ENIGMATIC, who gets the assistance of apprentice of the moment Cieren Fallon for the first time. Most of the others are capable of bouncing back, though, with Wafy the easiest to forgive, and Ebury perhaps best fresh, so interesting on his first start since the spring.
- Enigmatic
- Wafy
- Ebury
