Nine-time winner on the AW circuit from 33 starts, all over 6f-7f and including at this venue. Badly out of sorts over a mile at Chelmsford in February on previous outing.
Three-time winner last year as a juvenile over 5f-6f. Efforts in 2019 much less encouraging in the main and couldn't rise a challenge on first AW run at Chelmsford 18 days ago.
Winner here a year ago on debut over 7f and returned in April to make it 2-2 with narrow C&D success. Handicap mark has so far proved beyond him. Plenty to prove.
Consistent this year and entitled to get in the firing line here on form, though somewhat concerning he has just a Salisbury win in 2017 to show for 17 career runs. May find one or two stronger.
An impressive winner at Lingfield around this time last year, his only AW start to date, things haven't been happening on turf since but there could be a bounce-back in the offing now.
Twice a novice winner on the AW back in the spring over this sort of trip, good second at Yarmouth (7f, good to firm; 8-1) recently and has to be worth considering back on AW despite 4lb rise. Cheekpieces added.
Dual C&D winner, 2-3 here overall. This is tougher stuff however than handicap he was fifth in here in May. Races from the same mark, with first-time blinkers added.
Convincing winner over 7f here on his penultimate start but couldn't deliver after receiving good support at Chester latest; but races from the same mark and pedigree suggests the step up to a mile won't cause too many problems. Could bounce back.
Prolific around Southwell in his career, though much less so anywhere else. Has won from higher marks in the past, but recent turf form isn't exactly inspiring. Others better placed at the moment.
Lightly-raced C&D-winning novice, well held over 7f here recently and likely needs a career-best to bag this prize.
Forecasts
Mawakib (3/1), Name The Wind (4/1), Kasbaan (5/1), Al Jellaby (5/1), Rectory Road (6/1), Masked Identity (8/1), Blown By Wind (14/1), Rampant Lion (16/1), Eljaddaaf (33/1), Hammer Gun (50/1)
Things didn't pan out for MAWAKIB at Chester when last spotted but his earlier success here over 7f was a really nice display and suggested this extra distance would be favourable. He's given the nod to build on that showing now. Masked Identity has gone up 4lb for finishing second at Yarmouth but can get involved while consistent performer Al Jellaby and lightly-raced C&D winner Rectory Road are given place claims.
- Mawakib
- Masked Identity
- Rectory Road
