1/1
War Front colt who showed promise on debut at Nottingham in October, and was much improved when winning a 1m novice at Newmarket in June by 1¼ lengths from Wings of Time. More to come, and the one they all have to aim for.

Low grade handicapper who isn't pulling up any trees even at that level of late, and makes not appeal whatsoever in this field. Could be the hare for others to chase given his style of racing.

Is proving very frustrating. often going close but still in search of his first win. Blew a good chance when 3L second of 8 to Monica Sheriff at Ffos Las on latest start, and a first-time visor replaces the cheekpieces he wore there.

Once cost 425,000 gns, but sold cheaply after finishing last on debut for Andre Fabre at Le Croise-Laroche. Fared little better on debut for new yard at Windsor last month, and is one for further down the line, if anything.

Green when fifth behind the smart Logician on Newmarket debut, and improved when third of 7 at Leicester last time behind Dramatic Device. Still unexposed, and should be a player with normal improvement.
Helmet half-brother to three winners, one of them useful, but was soundly beaten on debut for Eve Johnson Houghton at Newbury in May, and hard to fancy starting out for a new yard now.
Zoffany half-brother to several winners, including useful 7f-1m½f winner Catch The Eye and useful 5f winner Johnny Lynch. Makes a belated debut having been gelded, and probably best watched in what looks a warm enough contest.

Better effort to date when 13½L fourth of 8 to Gifts of Gold in a 1¼m maiden at Salisbury last time, but that form is only fair, and leaves her with a lot to find with the principals.

Forecasts

Cadre Du Noir (1/1), Cape Cavalli (5/2), Look Closely (3/1), Top Power (9/2), Shattering (9/1), Hindaam (18/1), Master Milliner (33/1), Devizes (80/1), Passing Clouds (100/1)

Verdict

CADRE DU NOIR sets the standard despite his penalty, and ought to improve again on his winning reappearance, so should prove hard to beat. Look Closely has shown plenty despite being a bit rough around the edges in two starts to date, and looks a bigger danger than the frustrating Cape Cavalli, who often threatens, but remains a maiden.
  1. Cadre Du Noir
  2. Look Closely
  3. Cape Cavalli
