Carlisle 5f maiden winner who showed a lot more on that occasion than on her debut (more effective since making the running). Taken onto the wrong part of the track back at Carlisle (handicap debut) last time; penalty to overcome this time around.
Made steady progress culminating in landing a 5f novice at Ripon (pulled off a gamble, supported from double-figure odds); made all. Has to prove she can repeat that performance under a penalty on a faster surface but hard to ignore, can hang.
Non-runner a couple of times when faced with a quicker surface he's progressed steadily throughout his three starts so far. Showed that he has ability again last time (easily beaten by odds-on chance); may do better in nursery handicaps.
Quite well found in the market on his C&D debut (good/soft) he ran to a modest level in a soundly-run maiden. Closing up on the principals late on he will have learnt from the experience; related to a 5f winner he should show more now.
Newcomer (yard 3-62 with 2yo debutants, last five years); cost 5,000 guineas yearling. Half-brother to 5f 2yo claiming winner Suetonius, dam once-raced sister to 6f Listed winner Cartimandua. On balance one to watch on his first start.
Trainer yet to have a newcomer win as a 2yo (0-8); yard is in good form though. Already gelded for his debut this son of Due Diligence is out of a 5f 2yo winner with some other sprinting types on the distaff side, hard to see him surprising.
Promise shown in his first two starts hasn't been on display in his latest two runs; disappointed over 5f before finding himself outclassed last time at York. This is more his level although he does have to prove himself at the minimum trip.
Suited by the sharp track/trip and drop into claiming grade over C&D in July sticking on well to finish second. Failed to build on that respectable try when given her nursery debut (5f, Musselburgh), finished well held, this looks tougher.
Beaten 17L on her debut in selling grade at Redcar (6f, good) she showed very little that would encourage support in this better company. Beaten a long way out she was never dangerous, more needed than a drop to 5f.
Just a neck behind Aribba Arriba on her debut she knew her job in chasing home two with more experience, also did better than the fancied newcomer in the race. If she can build on that initial outing this €19,000 purchase can get involved here.
Forecasts
Vintage Times (5/2), Spygate (9/2), Auckland Lodge (6/1), Arriba Arriba (6/1), Lady Nectar (7/1), Breguet Boy (8/1), Flight Of Thunder (16/1), Deevious Beau (25/1), Lezardrieux (33/1), Inver Silver (100/1)
The two penalised fillies may not have that much in hand of those that are yet to win with both Auckland Lodge and Vintage Times needing to find more to overcome the impost handed to them for their wins. Brequet Boy is expected to show more now he’s had a run after visibly learning throughout his debut over C&D. Old rivals Arriba Arriba and LADY NECTAR from Pontefract clash again with the latter expected to reverse that form give that she was making her debut last time and will know far more this time around. Spygate and Flight Of Thunder come from powerful 2yo yards but neither has particularly impressed so far and both would need to improve if they were to be involved.
- Lady Nectar
- Vintage Times
- Breguet Boy
