Has won two of his last three, 3-7 overall, not needing to improve to take Chester handicap (6f, good to soft) 22 days ago. Beaten previously in this grade at Ascot, though things didn't really go his way there. Worth another go.

Second to Pinatubo on debut before winning Leicester maiden. Travelled best in the Windsor Castle (5f) but couldn't quicken, then just held in Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket (6f). Ran into Pinatubo again since, leading claims down in grade.

Has twice impressed with all-the-way wins at Nottingham to land maiden/novice events over 6f (soft) already this month, scoring with plenty in hand. Much more on his plate now but chance to find out just how much is under the bonnet.

Impressive filly not out of the first two in six runs, winning her last three. Beat Oh Purple Reign on the AW at Chelmsford early last month before narrowly landing Newbury's Super Sprint (5f, good to soft). Stays this trip and much-respected on rece

Followed up her Carlisle novice win when a heavily backed nursery winner at Haydock (6f, good to firm) early last month. Form has taken multiple knocks since, up against it in this line-up.

Won her first two in novice company and anything bar disgraced in Group 2s at Royal Ascot (5f) and Newmarket (6f) since. Should make further progress over this trip before long and cannot be ruled out.

Platinum Star (6/4), Oh Purple Reign (11/4), Lambeth Walk (9/2), Sir Boris (5/1), Great Dame (10/1), Bettys Hope (14/1), Keep Busy (20/1)

Verdict

The progressive filly Bettys Hope is worthy of a tilt in this grade and is respected going for a four-timer after victory in Newbury's Super Sprint but PLATINUM STAR gets the nod. Saeed Bin Suroor's Lope De Vega colt has already gone close in Group 2 company and can count himself unfortunate to have twice locked swords with the exceptional Pinatubo this summer. This represents calmer waters and he can take advantage. Lambeth Walk has also done well in better races while trailblazing Sir Boris is yet to be fully extended and could have plenty more to offer.
