Dual sprint winner as a juvenile last year (first two runs), progress has stalled in handicaps over longer trips however. Good second at Wolverhampton latest, possibly more effective on the AW however.

Not beaten far in Yarmouth maiden handicap over 1m3½f last month, didn't exactly build on that since on Kempton's AW but could have some claims in this field.

Novice winner last year over a mile at Sandown, knocking heavily on the door at that track and Ffos Las in last three starts and will have leading claims here if coping with the extra yardage.

Winner of a Haydock handicap (1m2f, good to firm; 5-1), mostly competitive since and likely to give his running again from current mark in an open race with trainer in form.

Maiden, went close over 1m1f on soft going at Hamilton in May, mixed bag of efforts since but has certainly dropped back to the sort of mark from which he could open his account.

Son of Holy Roman Emperor, cost a cool €78,000, bit disappointing so far in 10 runs and must improve to take advantage of ever-decreasing rating.

Forecasts

Fragrant Dawn (2/1), Highwaygrey (4/1), Flying Dragon (9/2), Smeaton (5/1), Fume (8/1), Barbarosa (17/2), Prairie Spy (9/1)

Verdict

There shouldn't be much to spare in this but FLYING DRAGON has been burrowing away without success in recent starts and certainly wouldn't be winning out of turn now. Assuming Richard Hannon's charge see the trip out, he can gain some reward for his endeavours. Highwaygrey is in decent form and should give a good account again while Smeaton appeals as being on the sort of mark from which he can bag a race.
