Promising effort over 7f at The Curragh (good-to-firm) in May but struggled in two subsequent starts. Races off a mark 2lb higher than for his most recent success.
Held every chance when clipping heels and unseating at Nottingham (6f, heavy) on his penultimate start but made amends with a head success at Yarmouth (6f, good-to-firm) last time out. Leading contender despite a 4lb rise in the weights.
Good effort in finishing runner-up at Windsor (6f, good) in June. Disqualified having weighed in light at Ascot (6f, good-to-firm) subsequently and is interesting despite a disappointing effort back at Windsor (good-to-firm) last time out.
C&D winner returned from a short break with a second in a small field conditions race at Doncaster (6f, good-to-soft) earlier this month.
Winning for the fifth time when scoring by 2L over an extended 5f at Bath (good) at the end of June. Well beaten at Sandown (5f, good-to-firm) subsequently however and races off a mark 6lb higher than for that Bath success.
Decent effort when 2L seventh over 6f at Windsor (good-to-soft) on his penultimate start. Struggled at Pontefract (good) over the same trip subsequently and worth a check in the market off a mark 2lb lower than for his latest success.
Ran well when finishing fifth in a 7f handicap at Goodwood (good-to-firm) earlier this month. Return to this trip no issue and is a notable runner in this contest.
Completed a double when winning on good-to-soft ground over 6f at Windsor in June. Finished mid-division over the same C&D in a valuable contest subsequently. Also declared 16:50 York Thursday.
Placed twice over this trip in the spring including on good ground at Newmarket in June. Well beaten in a valuable race at Goodwood (6f, good-to-firm) earlier this month and this looks a less competitive affair.
Forecasts
Molls Memory (3/1), Bernardo O'Reilly (7/2), Breath Of Air (9/2), Royal Residence (5/1), Sunsprite (8/1), Ballyquin (9/1), Freescape (12/1), Beyond Equal (12/1), Diamond Dougal (14/1)
ROYAL RESIDENCE has been in good form this season and he can follow up his Yarmouth success with victory in this competitive sprint handicap. The selection has the forecast underfoot conditions to suit and he can see off his rivals here with Breath Of Air capable of claiming second dropping in trip. Third place can go the way of Sunsprite who can put a below par effort last time out behind him.
