Contested three fairly decent maidens without causing too much trouble in them. Likely to show improved form as she steps up in trip on handicap debut for yard going well. Holds an obvious chance.

One of two runners in this race for his trainer. Looks the first choice for the stable. Backward step last time after promising handicap debut at Windsor (1m3f; good to firm). Step back up in trip should suit and worth another chance.

Major revival required on handicap bow after failing to show anything of any real note in maidens. Likely to show a bit more for the switch to handicaps, but others possess more convincing claims.

Not shown an awful lot in maidens, but switch to the handicap scene and the step up from 1m2f to 1m4f could allow him to show a bit more. Booking of talented apprentice jockey an added plus.

Improved with racing in maidens and she should find life easier in handicaps off what is a fair enough mark. Form of the yard is of great concern however (0-25 in last 14 days).

Back in the winning groove when successful at Thirsk (1m4f; soft) 13 days ago, but seems to have a preference for ground with give in it. Still in with a shout but must prove himself in these conditions.

Ran too bad to be true on handicap debut at Beverley when beaten a mile, and then had no luck when unseating her rider at Lingfield last time (2m; standard). Running out of chances but is afforded another one.

Rare flat runner for top jumps trainer. Lots to like about her handicap debut when stepping up to this trip after a trio of maiden efforts over 1m. Place claims off an unchanged mark.

Maiden who has had multiple bites at the cherry in this sphere without threatening too much. Another quiet run recently at Nottingham (1m2f; soft) suggests her turn is not forthcoming as she steps up to 1m4f for the first time.

Sent off at big prices on each of her three starts in maidens and has shown next to nothing. Now starts out in handicaps off basement mark and is best watched.

Forecasts

Trouble Shooter (2/1), Aussie Breeze (4/1), Hermosura (11/2), Closer Than Close (7/1), Ocean Reach (8/1), Pecorino (8/1), Whims Of Desire (14/1), Voice Of Salsabil (25/1), Mini Milk (28/1), Capricorn Prince (33/1)

Verdict

Plenty of these are unknown quantities starting out in this sphere for the first time. That can't be said for Trouble Shooter who has won twice this season over 1m2f/1m4f. He should be thereabouts but there are reservations about him coping with the ground if it is anything other than soft/heavy. Given the astonishing record her trainer has with such types, Whims Of Desire is worth another chance. Things haven't gone to plan since she started in handicaps but the drop to 1m4f should see her in a better light. The vote goes to Hermosura though, who has fared okay in three good maidens, and can make a successful handicap debut as she steps up to 1m4f for the first time.
  1. Hermosura
  2. Whims Of Desire
  3. Trouble Shooter
