Only matched his Wolverhampton 7f winning form from February once since when running second at the same track over slightly further last month; wore first-time eyeshields. Not in the same form last time, comes here with something to prove.

Yard having a good year and that may inspire this one back to some better form with his losing run starting to reach lengthy proportions. Shaped better than he has of late last time (endured a troubled passage); well handicapped on old form.

Plummeting in the weights (last win came off a mark of 66) but not looking as though he's going to take advantage anytime soon. Has run poorly since returning from a break with and without headgear; plenty to prove even in this grade.

A career record of 1-29 hardly inspires confidence that he can produce a winning effort here despite a good run of placed efforts of late. That run came to a grinding halt last time (did too much too soon over 1m2f); back in trip, comes with risks.

6f winner on the Tapeta last year in this grade; much improved performance which he's failed to match since. Left Henry Candy but has yet to fire in two runs for this yard including in first-time cheekpieces last time; first-time at this trip.

Not the most reliable sort but finally opened her account last time over 1m at Leicester last time; took a seller from what looked to be a hopeless position. Now reverts to handicap company (beaten off this mark before); follow-up in doubt.

Wolverhampton Tapeta winner (7f) earlier in the year (final start for Michael Bell) off this mark but looks to have lost his way of late for these connections. Given another try in cheekpieces last time now visored (first-time); unstable proposition.

Maiden who has only had three starts so far and no makes his handicap debut having been steadily stepped up in trip. Showed little last time over 1m on his first start of the year (had been off 11 months); goes handicapping for the first time.

Rapidly descended the weights since going into handicaps this year (started off on a mark of 67); now on a career-low mark. Did show his best form so far last time over 1m2f at Chelmsford so there many be hope for him here in first-time cheekpieces.

Maiden who has run exclusively on the AW this year experiencing three different synthetic surfaces trailing home well beaten when last seen. In good hands and off a lowly mark back from a break, not totally written off, worth noting a market move.

Took advantage of a reduced mark coming back off a break to land an extended 7f soft ground handicap here last month (made all). Not in the same form and under very different tactics when beaten last time; AW record isn't persuasive (0-4).

Forecasts

Heatherdown (7/2), Lippy Lady (9/2), Sea Shack (5/1), Sussex Solo (6/1), Gold Flash (8/1), Caledonia Laird (10/1), Pot Luck (12/1), Seaforth (12/1), London Pride (16/1), Time Trialist (20/1), Good Luck Charm (22/1), Cuban Spirit (25/1)

Verdict

Hard to be confident about any of these in a low-key finale with Gold Flash on the evidence of his fourth last time out in a race that was run far from ideally for him offering himself as one of those with a leading chance; he is well handicapped on his old form. Lippy Lady can’t be relied upon to get the same scenario as she did when winning at Leicester with the other recent winner, Sussex Solo having offered little on the AW so far. Pot Luck ought to be capable of better and Time Trialist is relatively unexposed. LONDON PRIDE showed last time that a return to 1m off a mark such as this might show him in a better light, the first-time cheekpieces may provide an extra spark.
