Running well in defeat of late but still racing 19lb higher than last winning mark and very much in the grip of the handicapper.
Comes here in an attempt to land an unprecedented hat-trick of wins at this years festival. Winner on Tuesday and again on Thursday the gelding tries to make it his second C&D win of the week.
C&D winner of this contest 12 months ago when beating 16 rivals ½L off a 4lb lower mark. Shamardal gelding has maintained a good level of form throughout the year on the Flat and over hurdles. Leading player from respected yard.
Form overall has been below par in three hurdle starts for current connections since a move from the yard of Michael Browne. Needs a sizable improvement from his first run on the Flat.
Ran at this festival on three occasions last term including when finishing second of 17 off a similar mark in this contest 12 months ago behind Share The Honour. Likely to produce another bold effort.
Landed a second career win on the Flat when winning a Fairyhouse 1m4f handicap last month of a 13lb lower mark. Revised mark may be enough to put a hold on current progression.
Still without a win in five Flat starts on turf with the filly disappointing on her latest start as beaten favourite in a Navan handicap last month. Worth a market check in first-time cheekpieces.
Won two handicaps at up to 1m4f for Ed Walker last year then sold to current connections for 35,000 guineas. Struggling in recent efforts and tough to see where improvement is coming from.
Improved on his third run when beaten 1½L in a Limerick 1m3½f maiden when last seen in June. First-time cheekpieces fitted representing a yard who boast a 34% strike rate with their first-time handicappers in the last 12 months
Off the mark for connections at the fifth time of asking when landing a Limerick handicap over a similar trip last month off a 6lb lower mark beating One Cool Poet a head. Place claims.
Won a Down Royal handicap over 1m4f last month off a 5lb lower mark to win at the fifth time of asking for connections. Overall form is solid and fancied to go well once again.
Off the mark for connections at the sixth time of asking at Killarney before running well in defeat over the extended mile here on Tuesday behind One Cool Poet. Capable of a big run but has widest draw.
Three-year-old Galileo colt, best run of three came over 1m2f at Roscommon last month when second. Didn't appear to relish drop to 7f at Fairyhouse last month. Not easily ruled out in first-time cheekpieces.
Third Reserve: Modest efforts in a couple of handicap starts since June and unlikely to make significant impact if making the line-up.
