Modest form in three starts so far and not particularly well treated for his handicap debut. Yard going well but improvement needed all the same.

Made a winning start to handicapping when causing a bit of a surprise at Lingfield last month; that form is just ordinary but the third home has won since. She's up 7lb but it's a bonus that she's proven over the trip. One to consider for sure.

Still a maiden (0-8) and arguably posted his best effort when second in a Class 6 handicap at Salisbury last month; but was again brushed aside last time out. Highly positive jockey booking is persuasive though. Has to be worth a betting check.

Was a close second over C&D last month but made no impact when favourite at Yarmouth last time; has ability but been expensive to follow lately. A 3lb higher mark looks harsh given that he was already beaten when eased in that latest outing.

In decent form just now and was only just denied under a forceful ride at Nottingham last month; this doesn't look much harder and the gelding can be thereabouts if his stamina holds out.

Hard to know what he achieved when winning a three-runner race in Guernsey back in May but he was a creditable fourth in this grade at Lingfield last time; he's unexposed on turf and might have more to offer. Place claims if taking a step up.

Modest form so far and well beaten in both starts this season; lacks a tactical change of gear and is yet to justify the 60,000 gns price tag he carried as juvenile.

Bettered the form of her mandatory three runs when the filly raced prominently on her handicap debut here last time out. Another step forward is still required though.

Well held in all starts so far and although she's bred to be effect over this trip, the Delegator filly has a lot to prove now. Others much more appealing.

Yet to create a favourable impression and a big improvement is needed. The firmer surface might assist but the colt has a lot to prove at present.

Yard's runners always worth a second look at this course but this filly has been regressive since plying her trade in handicaps; plenty to find with Junior Rip on the C&D form of last time out. Others are more obvious candidates for top honours.

Improved since his stamina has been tested more thoroughly and comes into this on the back of his best effort yet. It's still a bit below the levels shown by others, however, and the gelding needs to prove he can hold his form now.

Steps up in trip after four moderate efforts (three over 7f and one over 1m) and not even the fact he runs for a top yard is enough to tempt a recommendation on the form so far; dropped 3lb but plenty to find back on turf.

On face value, the filly improved when upped to 1m2f last time. However, closer scrutiny tells you she didn't finish in front of many progressive types and worth of the form is of little consequence. Others make a lot more appeal on these terms.

Verdict

WHISTLER BOWL needs to maintain her upward profile after making a winning start to her handicapping career when she ran away with a Class 5 last month; this is a fair bit easier and the ease in grade helps to compensate for the 7lb higher mark. Junior Rip is better than he showed last time out and is respected, while Twpsyn and Sea Art are others with solid place claims if they run to their best - the jockey booking for the letter catches the eye. Just Once is another to monitor closely in the betting.
