Has raced in a couple of strong handicaps (including the Old Newton Cup last time) since back-to-back wins in Class 4 company. His Ayr run showed he is up to winning off this mark and he could easily bounce back here.
Remains 9lb higher than when winning a Class 3 handicap by a neck at Ascot over this trip, this time last year. Solid effort in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock last start and a repeat could see him involved, however others likely better handicapped.
Can be slowly away as he was when running with credit in York's John Smith's Cup last time. Continues to prove very reliable and just 2lb higher than his last win. Has often raced as though this trip could suit and one to consider.
Off the track for almost 18 months until returning to action at Chelmsford (1m6f) in May; didn't beat a single rival there, or at Leicester and then tailed off in the Northumberland Plate. Best watched in this company for now.
Consistent performer but pays for that with the handicapper and remains 5lb higher than his last win. Seems to handle most ground although his wins have been on an easier surface. Others probably better handicapped but not dismissed.
Won off a mark of 100 at Pontefract last season so off 87 he is clearly dangerously well handicapped although the fall is with good reason having struggled greatly since. Gets another 3lb back after latest Ayr flop.
Only one win last year but he was running well in defeat throughout most of the campaign and again this year has gone close in three of his last four runs. This is tougher but no surprise to see him placed once again.
Completed a hat-trick last autumn and still remains 2lb higher. Well beaten in both starts this campaign and it's probably best waiting for him to race on a softer surface.
All three British wins have been over 1m2f here. Stayed on well when beaten just a length in Cumberland Plate at Carlisle and just touched off over this C&D last time. This is tougher and while he can't be ruled out, an easier surface would suit.
Forecasts
Fayez (3/1), Charles Kingsley (5/1), Koeman (5/1), Mutamaded (11/2), Everything For You (7/1), Jabbaar (7/1), My Reward (9/1), Daawy (22/1), Cohesion (33/1)
The last run of CHARLES KINGSLEY may be best forgiven and he has more to offer for his in form stable. Koeman was ahead of him at Haydock and is respected but he remains a touch high in the weights. Everything For You is reliable and along with the consistent but frustrating Jabbaar, are expected to be competitive. Mutamaded loves this track but would prefer some rain. Fayez may be the bigger danger as he's reliable and has often hit the line as though he's worth this step up in distance.
- Charles Kingsley
- Fayez
- Koeman
