Two wins from first five starts last year as a three-year-old (unraced at two) showed plenty promise. Final start at Redcar over 1m2f on soft ground best forgotten. Back from layoff and could be more to come with yard in flying form.
Three-time winner last summer, all over 7f, and has strongly hinted in recent outings at Beverley and Redcar that his turn is looming again. Gets 1lb back here and goes on any shortlist.
Knocked on the door a couple of times before valuable handicap success at Chester in May over similar trip. Couple of backwards steps since leaving him requiring a bounce-back effort this evening.
Ended last year with pair of novice wins at Chelmsford and Thirsk over a mile. Second start back at Nottingham was encouraging despite fading late on. Drops in trip with array of headgear added and must be taken seriously for red-hot trainer.
Improving with each start this season after joining Eve Johnston-Houghton over the winter, though latest Yarmouth effort does still leave him with more to find.
Won five-times last year and looked like he may still be progressing when third on the Rowley Mile first time out. Static in three runs since, but mark is falling and could get involved if bouncing back to that form.
Newbury maiden winner (6f, good to soft; 9-4f) in September and April's reappearance in Newmarket handicap was very promising (close fifth). Well held in big-field York contest since, may do better here if getting early lead.
Dual winner around Pontefract but has yet to appear anywhere near as good away from that track. Runner-up there last week off this mark over 6f, bit to prove here, including stamina.
Showed himself to be well-handicapped when close third of 19 over C&D on reappearance in March (good to firm); and has since run well enough in trio of starts. Eased again in ratings, but yard has been quiet of late.
Much improved in his last two starts when winning Haydock handicap before going down by a neck at Thirsk (6f, good to soft). Up 3lb but still remains unexposed compared to others and may have more to offer on fast surface/longer trip.
Very well-backed on debut for new yard at Haydock (7f, good to firm; 11-4) earlier this month and finished close fifth of 12. Had every chance late on, and this is tougher on paper. Runs from same mark now.
Forecasts
Kaeso (5/1), Presidential (11/2), Came From The Dark (11/2), Byron's Choice (6/1), Tukhoom (7/1), Piece Of History (7/1), Mutafani (9/1), Queen's Sargent (10/1), Breath Of Air (12/1), Givinitsum (14/1), Ventura Ocean (22/1)
Came From The Dark is on an upwards curve lately and remains unexposed over this trip, he should got well here alongside the likes of Breath Of Air and Mutafani, who represents a yard in stunning form. Similar sentiments apply to Piece Of History, returning from a break, but the nod goes to BYRON'S CHOICE. Michael Dods' charge was in cracking form this time last year and has started to hint his turn is coming again. This could be it.
- Byron's Choice
- Came From The Dark
- Mutafani
