Son of Outstrip. Has already been gelded. Cost £65,000 as a yearling. Yard can ready a newcomer and they are enjoying a decent time of things at present, so he makes the shortlist.
Gelded ahead of debut which is a negative. By Born To Sea. Half-brother to a couple of winners. Yard are out of form though, so best watched on debut.
Represents yard who took this last year. Dawn Approach colt. Nicely bred and stable are going well at the moment so could go very close on debut. Watch for market clues.
Galileo colt. Brother to four winners. Looks the pick of the Ballydoyle trio on jockey bookings. Obvious chance on debut and could get off to the perfect start.
Took another step forward to post carer-best last time when third at the Curragh (7f; good to yielding). Perhaps not open to as much improvement as some, he could put experience to good use.
By Kitten's Joy. Expensive recruit to top Jumps stable. Sales price went up from $110,000 as a yearling, to E160,000 as a two-year-old. Fascinating contender.
Kodiac colt. Cost E82,000 as a yearling. Half-brother to three winners. Likely best watched on debut for trainer who is not readily associated with first time out two-year-old winners.
Galileo colt. Full-brother to 1m winner. Dam was very successful in Australia, and he is an intriguing sort on debut for Ballydoyle. Likely to be in need of the experience first time out.
One of a couple in this race representing Zoffany. Represents powerful connections and is a half-brother to a couple of winners. Likely type on debut.
Newcomer for Ballydoyle. By Zoffany. Closely related to 1m Listed winner Queen Titi. Should play a part on debut but Iberia looks the pick on jockey the basis of jockey bookings.
Encouraging debut effort when fifth in a decent maiden at Leopardstown (7f; good). Does need to improve upon that, but would hold place claims if able to do so.
Lord Kanaloa filly. Half-sister to Group 3 winners Astrophysical Jet and Coral Wave. Represents powerful connections, and yard can ready one. Stable are currently out of form but monitor the betting.
Forecasts
Iberia (7/2), Jungle Cove (4/1), Geometrical (4/1), Sherpa (6/1), Russian Emperor (10/1), Agent Zero (12/1), The Truant (12/1), Shekhem (14/1), Longclaw (25/1), Mosala (25/1), Easca Peasca (25/1), Know It All (33/1)
An open maiden, with newcomers aplenty. One that does possess experience is Jungle Cove who fared well behind a Ballydoyle hotpot over C&D last time. He is progressing with racing and is likely to take another step forward. The Jim Bolger-trained debutante Geometrical catches the eye on paper with his Group 1 entry and the fact that he represents connections who took this contest last year is an added positive. However, the selection is IBERIA who is one of three in this race for Aidan O'Brien, but is the choice of stable jockey Ryan Moore which suggests he has been showing plenty at home ahead of his racecourse debut.
- Iberia
- Jungle Cove
- Geometrical
