2lb lower than when winning over C&D (good to soft) last September; not too far from that level of form in recent starts; holds realistic place claims.
Won from today's mark at Thirsk (1m, good to firm) in May 2018; can only draw benefit from his recent seasonal reappearance at Carlisle (Carlisle Bell Consolation Race).
Strongest on the AW, landing a gamble on the opening day of the 2018 Northumberland Plate Festival at Newcastle; handicap mark easing ever so slightly but hasn't won on turf since August 2015.
Won over 1m at Doncaster (good to firm) last June and is reasonably treated off today's 2lb lower mark; off the track since racing on the AW at Lingfield in March.
Continues to knock at the door on turf without quite managing to exploit a favourable handicap mark; is closely matched with Dandy Highwayman on the basis of a couple of recent clashes.
Course winner (5f) who has carried his winter AW form back onto turf; is closely matched with Atletico on the basis of a couple of recent clashes; riders 7lb claim is a handy boost.
Badly out of form in 2019, slipping down the weights a whopping 15lb since March; drops back in trip fractionally.
Sprung a 33-1 surprise when responding for pressure to score by ½L at Wolverhampton (7f) 15 days ago; 3lb higher with the potential for further improvement over this 7f trip.
Eight-race maiden; turned in a very modest performance (last of 14) at Redcar latest; placed on both previous starts at Beverley so that at least offers some hope in a reasonably weak contest.
Wore cheekpieces when finishing a close third to Kodimoor over C&D (good to firm) 11 days ago; 0-25 overall and that tempers any real enthusiasm accordingly.
17-race maiden; it's virtually impossible to build a constructive case with regards her chance from outside of the handicap proper; drops back to 7f for the first time since June 2018.
Forecasts
Atletico (2/1), Twin Appeal (7/2), Golden Guest (7/1), Mango Chutney (9/1), Primeiro Boy (10/1), Dandy Highwayman (12/1), Fake News (12/1), Dominannie (16/1), Pickett's Charge (20/1), Abie's Hollow (25/1), Bob's Girl (50/1)
PRIMEIRO BOY struck at the first time of asking over 7f at Wolverhampton recently and should theoretically be open to more improvement than the majority in a relatively modest Class 5 handicap. Others worthy of consideration for the minor honours include old foes Atletico and Dandy Highwayman as well as the returning (and feasibly handicapped) Golden Guest.
- Primeiro Boy
- Atletico
- Dandy Highwayman
