Arrives here in great heart and wasn't beaten far in either of his last two starts; a 3lb higher mark looks fair. One to seriously consider from plumb draw.

His previous start over C&D was a solid effort. 3lb higher this time and a stalls pitch on the outside of the course complicate the matter this time. Needs to be at his very best. (Had a few of these behind last time.)

Recent form has been patchy but he did go very close at Ayr on his penultimate start; poor here last time and needs to better that effort by some way. The longer trip can assist but still sufficient doubts about his resilience these days.

In decent form and relatively unexposed over this trip. 3lb higher than his win at York on his penultimate start but still on a handy mark. The betting can guide towards any stable preference between him and Proud Archi.

Won on his final start in France a couple of seasons ago but things haven't panned out in two light campaigns since. However, he's coped well when tried over this trip before now and would be dangerous to underestimate. Place claims if on song

Unexposed on turf but needs to be considerably better than he showed at Newmarket last September; and only raced once since. Yard is going well but the percentage call is that he's best watched on seasonal bow.

The trip shouldn't be an issue but his best form has been on softer ground; the wide draw also negates his chances of recording a fifth career win even though he's 3lb lower in the weights than the last time he won a race.

Good effort - in a race that has already produced a winner - here over 6f last month but never competitive when upped to this distance latest; 7f stretches her to the limit and she needs a lot to go her way.

Has C&D form to reverse with Candelisa and is also closely matched with Turanga Leela; has the worst of the draw, which means he's got a lot on his plate to better his old rivals this time.

Steadily running into form and appreciated the return to 7f to go close at Ayr last month; runner up in this race last year and very well handicapped in comparison. Needs to show more mettle though.

Respected on the pick of his efforts and has run well in three starts at Carlisle this season. Never raced on the Roodee before and noted that he has the best of the draw; but his tendency to start slowly could be his undoing on this occasion.

Won in this grade on his penultimate start but held when upped to 6f latest and even more to prove over another furlong this time. Been placed on the AW over 7f but never been tried over this far on turf before now.

Forecasts

Proud Archi (4/1), Zeyzoun (5/1), Candelisa (13/2), Brigham Young (13/2), Zoravan (7/1), Turanga Leela (7/1), Gabrial The Tiger (9/1), Logi (11/1), Start Time (16/1), John Kirkup (20/1), Miracle Garden (25/1), Upstaging (40/1)

Verdict

Those drawn low don't appear to have the tactical speed to capitalise; other than PROUD ARCHI, who has been banging on the door lately and as he has fewer questions to answer over this trip than a few of the others, he gets a tentative nod as the one to side with; closely followed by Candelisa despite his wide stalls position, and Turanga Leela, even though this trip stretches her to the limit. Zeyzoun and the selection's stablemate John Kirkup are a couple of others to monitor closely in the betting.
