Camacho gelding; produced a clear career best effort on second start when finishing 5L sixth of 12 to Insania at Thirsk (5f, good); doesn't appeal other than on the basis of that single piece of form.
Toronado filly; made the frame at odds of 40-1 on her second start (5f, Thirsk); encountered soft ground over C&D here 23-days ago; should make her presence felt against these opponents.
Elzaam filly; has shown precious little in the way of promise to date (5f-6f); tongue-tie applied for the drop into a claimer.
Holy Roman Emperor gelding; hasn't beaten a single rival on his last two starts (Goodwood and Windsor), although this is undoubtedly a much less taxing assignment; wears a newly applied visor.
Night Of Thunder filly; patently didn't get home over 6f on good to soft ground at Leicester last month, albeit she turned in a reasonable performance (showed pace); has a definite shout back over 5f at this much sharper track.
Sizeable odds when well beaten on both previous starts, including in the valuable Rous Selling Stakes at York (6f); very unlikely to be the solution.
Showed no signs of improvement (raced keenly early) for being gelded when finishing sixth of seven to Better The Devil in a 5f Hamilton maiden (good) last month.
25-1 when finishing last of nine on debut in a Carlisle novice (5f, good to soft); swiftly shunted into a claimer so the chances are that there will be precious little improvement to come.
Forecasts
Blitzle (11/10), Flight Of Thunder (11/4), Comeatchoo (11/2), Queen Moya (12/1), Secret Cecil (16/1), Two Hearts (20/1), Starfield Song (33/1), South Light (33/1)
A desperately weak opener in which the Ollie Pears-trained Blitzle is just about the 'form horse'. She should make her presence felt against these opponents after finishing a mildly respectable seventh of ten to Fashion Advice (runner-up a subsequent winner) in a soft ground C&D novice 23-days ago. However, we'll take a slight chance on the Kevin Ryan-trained FLIGHT OF THUNDER who demonstrated plenty of pace at Leicester (6f) before weakening quickly inside the final furlong. A drop back in trip around a sharp track should suit her down to the ground on that evidence alone.
- Flight Of Thunder
- Blitzle
- Comeatchoo
