Little encouragement to be gleaned from his first run for this yard over 1m here after nine months off. Visor on for the first-time and up in trip; (0-7 beyond 1m), slipped well below last winning mark, has plenty to prove over this distance though.
Returns to the Flat having been well beaten in two novice hurdles of late (started at big prices both times); yet to win on the Flat either. Tried at various trips on the level producing a couple of laboured efforts when last seen in this sphere.
C&D winner last year (got a well-judged ride) but isn't the easiest to catch right although he did take a step in the right direction at Brighton (1m2f, good) last time. A quick surface will suit, slips back to 5lb below last winning mark.
Course winner (both wins come left-handed; 0-6 right-handed); last two starts have shown him to be back to form his fourth last time at Yarmouth better than the final placing. Winner of that race has franked the form; lurks on a reasonable mark.
Had victory snatched away over C&D last time making her turf handicap debut off this same mark. Only just touched off by a previous winner a repeat of that run will see her go very close although she may have been feeling the ground a little.
Little to write home about in his hurdles starts for this yard; showed even less on his return from wind surgery having his first Flat start since 2017 at Brighton. Looks out of sorts at the moment and far from persuasive with a visor back on.
Hardly has a bet compelling profile (1-34 on Flat) but did run with credit over C&D last time (wore blinkers). Usual cheekpieces now return (joined by a tongue-tie, first-time); hopes of making the frame again are not unrealistic off this mark.
C&D win off a 7lb higher mark remains his own victory, the losing run has piled up since then though. Punishing defeats in both starts this year by 23L and 19L, the second of those routs coming over 2f further here; makes only limited appeal.
Well beaten on all five starts so far including on her handicap debut over 1m at Southwell attracting very little market interest. Yard only 2-64 this year (have had a torrid time), dropped 3lb and upped again in trip; hard to recommend.

Perfect Grace (4/5), Prerogative (7/2), King Athelstan (7/1), War Of Succession (8/1), Ramatuelle (9/1), Coachella (12/1), Mottaham (12/1), Buzz Lightyere (25/1), Mamnoon (25/1), Lyn's Secret (50/1), Los Cerritos (50/1)
The apparent play in this would be one of the two three-year-olds in the field Perfect Grace who ran a very sound last time on her handicap debut off a break. She’ll be hard to beat but the ground may just be a little quicker than is ideal for her (appeared to feel the ground last time). That may just open the door for COACHELLA who didn’t really get the run of the race last time, will enjoy ground and has won here before albeit over a different trip. King Athelstan, War Of Succession and Prerogative form a trio that should also be respected and make this an interesting opener.
- Coachella
- Perfect Grace
- War Of Succession
