Has shown his strongest turf form on soft ground, and just 2lb higher than when winning at Doncaster last October. Ran poorly on good ground at Newmarket on latest start, and vulnerable unless rain arrives in good measure.
Showed some ability for Bryan Smart last year without setting the world alight. Has joined a yard enjoying a fine first season, but she looks harshly handicapped on balance, and need to improve markedly.
Sole win came over 5f on turf, but best form has come over 1m, and he was back to that level when 5L fourth of 9 to Akwaan at Newmarket last time. Place claims with a repeat, although proving expensive to follow in handicaps.
Highly tried in the Cheshire Oaks and then also brushed aside on next start, but broke her duck in a race run to suit at Chepstow (1m, good) last time. Needs to show she can build on that back in a handicap.
Built markedly on earlier efforts this year when winning an extended 1m handicap at Hamilton last time by 7 lengths from Monsieur Piquer. Well treated under a penalty if she can repeat that effort.
No beaten far in a 1m Redcar median auction maiden on his penultimate start, but handed a stiff mark, and well beaten on handicap debut at Ripon last time. Dropped 2lb for that, but it doesn't look enough.
Hasn't gone on in the manner expected. but handicapper has reacted accordingly, and made more impact when 4½L second of 8 to Crystal Tribe over this trip at Brighton last time. Clear of the rest there, but must show that he can build on that.
Had been shaping up quite well prior to an improved effort when second of 13 to Langholm at Beverley last time when fitted with blinkers. Will go well if headgear continues to have a positive effect.
Behind Garrison Commander on first try at this trip at Leicester on penultimate start, but fared much better when 2¼L second of 12 to Potenza in a 1m handicap there last time. Worth another try at 1¼m, and respected.
His sole win came on Fibresand at Southwell (7f) in November. Yet to show such solid form on turf, although made a little more impact last time, and yard has an excellent record when fitting its runners with blinkers. Not dismissed on that basis.
Forecasts
One To Go (4/1), Garrison Commander (4/1), Mecca's Gift (4/1), Li Kui (5/1), Jimmy Greenhough (15/2), My Boy Lewis (9/1), Alfa Dawn (16/1), Starlight Red (16/1), The Rutland Rebel (25/1), Gremoboy (33/1)
Mecca's Gift will go well under a penalty if her 7-length romp at Hamilton is taken at face value, but her overall form throws a little doubt on the vailidity of her easy win, and preference is for the gradually progressive ONE TO GO, who was a good second in first-time blinkers at Beverley last time, and ought to continue in form, with the possibility of more to come. Jimmy Greenhough put up a career-best effort last time, and will get involved if staying the longer trip under similar tactics.
- One To Go
- Mecca's Gift
- Jimmy Greenhough
