Showed no progression from his debut run when seventh at Lingfield (6f, standard) last month. May be one for nurseries soon but significant improvement needed to be competitive.

66/1
Equiano colt who ran incredibly green when 11th of 14 on debut at Chelmsford (6f, standard). Misbehaved in the preliminaries as well that day so is probably best watched.

Camacho Man11

100/1
Market drift on debut proved correct and was very green when finishing a tailed-off eighth at Nottingham (6f, good to soft) 11 days ago. Likely to offer very little again.

Fared better than the result suggested on debut when sixth over C&D last month. Made late headway that day and likely to be ridden more prominently this time. Entitled to improvement and can't be discounted.

Showed the necessary improvement from debut when good third over C&D on latest start. Sets the standard on the pick of the form is open to further progression. Leading contender.

Outsider in both of his racecourse appearances over C&D and finished down the field each time. Likely to be the same case here.

Irish Acclaim14

10/11
Significant market support when solid third over C&D on debut two weeks ago. Stayed on well that day and likely to want a step up in trip soon, but looks to be the main danger to some of his rivals. Commands respect.

Immature on first racecourse start and was never a factor when seventh of eight at Nottingham (5f, good) in early June. Will have learnt from that experience but plenty to find on form.

£58,000 purchase from the breeze-up sales. Sire was a top class two-year-old (won Group 1 Prix Morny and Middle Park) and out of unraced dam related to Oasis Dream. Interesting contender but a likely long-term prospect.

10/1
70,000 gns yearling out of a mare who won over 1m4f and is a half-sister to US Grade 1 winner Shamdinan. Entitled to perform over better but worth a market check on debut.

Horse silk
20/1
42,000 gns yearling purchase out of a dam who won up to 1m. Sire was a precocious juvenile and interesting if there is betting support for yard in top form.

Forecasts

Irish Acclaim (10/11), Ecclesiastical (3/1), Good Earth (11/2), Smokey Bear (10/1), Jochi Khan (16/1), Timon (20/1), Old News (33/1), Boy George (66/1), Beat The Breeze (66/1), Camacho Man (100/1), Hares Rocket (100/1)

Verdict

The leaders in the betting market are likely to dictate this contest, and preference is for GOOD EARTH who came up against the Coventry Stakes third on his debut but has done nothing but progress since and offers key experience too. But Irish Acclaim is a leading threat. He was an eye-catcher over C&D on debut and will be more streetwise for this contest, while Ecclesiastical showed enough at this track last time to suggest there is improvement to come from him.
  1. Good Earth
  2. Irish Acclaim
  3. Ecclesiastical
